What would you like to see in the next dashboard update?

I'd like it if they manage to speed up the Live Guide - it has not only always been quite unresponsive and delayed, but even gets worse the more games you've played (or someone else if you are viewing another user).

A defrag tool would be in order by now. Oblivion crashes are a nightmare, and it's all thanks to a highly fragmented file-system.

• Improved guide performance, even thought it was "tweaked" last time around.
  
  • Ever try sending an invite and Private Chat in Gears? It takes ridiculously long.
• "Games Library" to load up fast, and only once.
  
  • Why, everytime I check my Games Library, does it have to take upto 10 seconds for my mere 22 games (and the console hasn't even been turned off!)? Do it once, cache it, and that's it.
• More codec support, more specifically, .mkv/x264 support.
  
  • In an era of High Definition, that should already be integrated.
• Multiple Person Private Chat
  • For upto 4 people
• Ability to fast forward/rewind music (whether streamed/from HDD)
• Internet Speed Test to XBL servers
  • Can finally get an accurate reading of connction speed and other information. Data collected can be used in games to decide best hosts and such.
• Disable Dashboard ads/shortcuts
  • Although the Dashboard is very intuitive and well-designed, the ads/shortcuts clutter the display
    
    • panel1.dashboard._visible = false; (copy and paste it MS, you bums)

That's pretty much all I want for now, but other things will surely come to mind...

PS: I love the idea of fixing the game invites to say which game you're invited to. Would save a lot of time...

I also liked the game invite idea. If they had a clan feature where you can make a clan section on the dashboard so you can keep track of your team and your record. I think that might be more uselful then just using your bio.Strife88

Tell me about it! I was hoping for that Clan feature back in the last update, and with some supposed "leaked" pictures, I was so excited. Well, there's always next time...

more themes, i think the xbox 360 dashboard is beautiful and great, but sometimes i want like different download bars or blades or just generally more detail in the design. maybe like Vista's Aero style.. like a glass xbox guide.

How about a chat room so there is multiple people in the pvtc instead of just one that wud be pretty cool i think... and how about a file share system and a file sending system???

I would like my iPod iTouch to work on the 360 or maybe its just me that can't get it to work:|. Also i second the game invite idea to see what game it is.

Personally, I would like the option to delete certain titles from my games list (trial games, for example) - it's just a minor annoyance, though. Also, it would be nice to see what game you are being asked to join to when someone sends you a game invite, without having to press the Xbox Guide button - similarly to how they updated the 'Achievement Unlocked' feature.sickboy91

I would want that, but only if it was fully customisable like on a PC. With all of the color changes, background changes, and finally, SOUND CHANGES. Imagin being able to change the sound of the 360 when it starts up and when it shuts off? Or the sound of the blades when you change them. The sound of the dashboard when it pops up. That would be awsome.

how about a Web Browser? Is that really to much to ask for?

The Nintendo Wii has the abilty, and so does the PS3. Why not XBOX 360, Microsoft is a freakin computer company after all.

If I want to go through them I have to press A to look at an achievement, then press B to come back out to the list, scroll down to the next one and press A to go into it again. Why not just go into an achievement and use RB to go to the next one without having to go back to the list each time?

said it before and i'll say it again. how about the ability to fastforward through music in my playlists? cd players have had this ability for some 15 years. the xbox's DVD player can go forward/backward with varying degree's of speed so why not the music on my hd?

I agree that your game library needs to load faster. They should at least display your "last played" game immediately. Many times I want to play a XBLA game that I played the day before. It doesn't display the "last played" game until it has indexed your entire library. I own like 40-50 XBLA games and it takes like 30 seconds for it to index the games.

I also hope they do the Netflix thing.

Animated desktop themes so you could have say a waterfall for you background image, and the option to put your own picture on each blade.

I would also like the ability to have an avatar or gif as your gamerpic via a download on PC.

They should add a custom menu option for you to put your favorite menu items in for quicker access.

Add conference private chatting so you can have clan meetings etc while on the dashboar with multiple freinds.

Split acheivements between online and offline so we can see players preffered gamemode.

A Backup tool to back your HDD up on your PC via your home network, just in case the worst happens.

A clan blade should be added with MYSPACE type customisation options.

an option for chatpad custom quick functions for the xbox itself from the dashboard, how cool would it be to switch the console on, hold the number 2 button for a second and it takes you straight to you message inbox or straight to your PC video streaming section.

I would also like to see an option to map functions to the chatpad in games, like you can on PC's but this one is down to game devs more than anything. Also

I would love to see them organize the game selection better. Like with the IPOD you can scroll to whatever letter the song starts with have the same things here. Also I would love to have them preview themes and gamer pictures before you actually buy. It is a curse to buy something and not like it.

Finally, when you go to games in the XBOX Live Marketplace and select a game why not have them categorized into sections. Like all the trailers can be listed in one folder for that specific game, demos another folder, themes and gamer pictures another folder just so everything is organized.

first isnt it a solid state drive? defrag isnt neccisary with solid state drives.... also i love the idea of multi user chat and a internet browser like my wii has... i would love to see the ability to have xbox live clans that carry over from game to game where you get placed with clan mates if you opt to do that, so you dont have to invite everyone you know and hope you dont crash. i love idea of a connectivity meter in dashboard.

notification options :

more options for which notrificaitions you see. aka onyl show when you recieve a message, or see friend alerts, and chat requests but nto messages. or maybe only chat requests visible, but not when a friend comes online ro sends a mesage. you get the idea. so easy to ioncorporate. at the moment just having notifications on or off is stupid.
