I want to see a filter for matchmaking, small maps like there are in Black Ops, and at least a little something new in zombies - who knows what?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
In all honesty, I wish this would be the last Call of Duty and if it was I'd love to see Treyarch "go out with a bang" on it if you know what I mean. I could easily see them pulling of Black Ops 2 since Woods probably didn't die and BObeing one of the highest selling games on Xbox 360. But in my opinion Treyarch is the better developer than Infinity Ward and since Jason West and Vince Zapella leftand a bunch of IW employeesleft too with them IW went to sh*t.
I'm tired of Modern setting now in FPS's and Battlefield 3 will probably be the last FPS I am going to buy also I did play MW3 (I borrowed my friends copy for the weekend) and it was all basically cut and paste. The story felt like a Michael Bay film, its multiplayer is so broken (I got to level 21 or so before I quit playing it) and also all the map designs suck a$$ for MW3 some felt like left overs from MW2.
Its just sad to see this once amazing franchise be destroyed by Activison (I'll always remember playing Call of Duty when it first came out in 2003 on PC oh my god I was so blown away by it at the time) and now with what its become Activison will probably (and I can see them doing this) continue to run it into the ground to the point of no return and past the point they've milked it too much that they will suddenly realize that they should stop the franchise like they did with Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero. Looking back at it now though I wish this was one series that was never created its just sad to see what its become.
I'm waiting for the day when West and Zampella's new company Respawn Entertainment making a huge announcement and unvielling their new franchise to end Call of Duty.

I hope that Activision stops the Modern Warfare series and fires Infinity Ward and just have Treyarch put out a new CoD every other year. Infinity Ward basically makes map packs to MW1. Treyarch makes new innovative moves to the series.
[QUOTE="hkymike"]I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM STOP MAKING THE CALL OF DUTY GAMES....They get worse and worseNirdBerd
The Modern Warfare series gets worse yes, but Treyarch's CoD games get better and better.
Yes, I agree. The modern warfare games just went totally crazy with story line etc... and multiplayer is still the exact same from cod4 pretty much. Although Treyarch started with cod 3 (which I still think was a good game) but not up to par with modern warfare, they have just kept getting better, and although they still use the same type of gameplay as the modern warfare series, they atleast try different things (eg zombies and changing settings rather than just modern times etc).
Here are some things I would like to see in the next Treyarch iteration of Call of Duty:
- Deeper & more intuitive character customization for a true feeling of player diversity and satisfaction
- A dedicated currency based weapon selection that is no longer level progression restricted
- The choice to keep 1 gun available of your choosing upon Prestige advancement for the players who have found their "perfect" gun
- Axe the attachable grenade (noob toob) launcher attachement for all guns
- An incentive to actually WANT to Prestige - like rewards, extra exp, extra currency, exclusive guns, etc.
- Axe killstreaks that make the play sessions too "hectic" like Air Support, Air Strikes, Helicopters, Chopper Gunner and such
- Broader and more quality servers that filter players based on their internet speed for best less latency & lag for the fairest match-making
- Dedicated game mode designed for tournament battles and clan battles to help CoD be more professionaly competitive
- Axe killstreaks that make the play sessions too "hectic" like Air Support, Air Strikes, Helicopters, Chopper Gunner and suchDigital_DJ_00
that would just take fun out of the game, the 3 main reasons why people prefer COD to others in my opinion, are
1.fast paced game play
2.smooth resposive controles
3.hectic "always in danger" feel
More ZOMBIES!!!! Black ops had a great campain and a lot of content. Were as mw3 had very little anything except for the same old $hi*
I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM STOP MAKING THE CALL OF DUTY GAMES....They get worse and worsehkymike
I agree. black ops was my least favorite cod game and mw3 was even worse. I think they should end the cod series with a huge game like that one guy said and just make it amazing. but seeing as activision is still making millions on the series, theyre still going to be pumping out sh!t in 5 years. trust me
Oh and plus the fact that more than half of the matches i get into in cod (which are about 2 a month, seriously) lag out and become unplayable. Maybe if treyarch and/or infinity ward and/or sledgehammer made dedicated servers people could actually play in matches on a consistent basis. I also think they should put it on a new engine seeing as they've been on the same one since COD 4, or was it earlier?
I used to love COD until bad company 2 came out. mw2.5 is out now. The only way i'll get treyarchs version is if they make it totally different. They need a whole new approach to the game. I want that cod4 wow factor back. but it won't happen....so i see nothing from Treyarch. El Fin
So far treyarch has been pretty original with there games. You cant really say black ops whas a copy and paste of WAW and you cant say Waw was a copy and paste of COD3, as far as MW though. they have gone outt of there way to make the game as bad as possible starting with mw2...
I would like to see the same amount of difficulty as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (I was FINALLY able to beat a Call of Duty campaign on Veteran), and I would like the Special Ops to have a reduced difficulty as well. Getting achievements is extremely difficult, and while I will still buy and play the game regardless of getting the achievements, it still makes me feel less happy than normal knowing that I will never have the skill to complete the game 100% in terms of achievements.

Is this a joke? MW3 on Veteran is way too easy. It should have been like cod 4.

No, if I make a joke, I usually type in, "*Joking...lol*" But yea, it is easy for some people, or maybe just you, not sure, but not easy for me. I am not good at First Person Shooters, and I am even worse at actually not running through people. I have always been Rambo type. In real life, this works for me, when I play football (you know this as, "soccer"), I do not do overly skillful tactics. I just go through people or pass, and I still win games at the University level. My brain does not work in terms of covert tactics unless I sit down and see it in text. So yea, I would prefer the games to be as easy as Modern Warfare 3, because then everyone is able to do them. Also, the Veteran mode in Modern Warfare 3 was more proportionate to real life difficulty (there has never been a single battle that has one side completely filled with genius super athletes capable of predicting, evading, and countering your every move).
I do not know, at least, make the achievements less difficult. As there are online gaming in Call of Duty games that does not have achievements at all, and people still play them, would it not be a better idea to just have a veteran + mode or something that has the same difficulty as Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops (referring to that one part in the game when you are with Weaver, after he loses his eye, and there is a tunnel of infinite enemies and you have to navigate that underground hallway in the building) without achievements but just for bonus leaderboard / exp. Just my hopes though, regardless of this, I am going to pick up the games, and play them to the best of my ability. I am not an OCD achievement completionist (as you can see from my Xbox Live profile if you care), but still, it feels nice to complete all the achievements if possible, and with veteran difficulty at the level of Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2, I cannot do it. It is not within the scope of my talents.

Whether it's done by IW or Treyarch, I'd like to see the next Call of Duty game go into an area of American military history previously unexplored by the CoD series. This includes World War I, the Korean War, the first Gulf War, or the Iraq War. Afghanistan wouldn't work, as that's already been covered by Medal of Honor.
Or, for world military history, the Kosovo War in the 90s might work.
The ray gun and other guns from the zombie mode in the regular game. A way to filter what multiplayer maps you want to play and don't want to play. Better weapon balancing and spawn points. Get rid of last stand, noob tubes and shotguns*as weapon attachments* and add the ability to carry more than one equipment, 2x claymores and a rc helicopter that actually shoots the player and explodeslike the rc carand not just a recon drone.
1. DEDICATED SERVERS - In the same style as BF3, where you can see the lobbies you are joining, their connection, the larger lobby sizes, the ruleset. For Console too, not just computer.
2. TONE - Every game has a tone, or a feeling that they aim for. Blops had an okay one, it was gritty and weird... I think grit could be Treyarch's trademark, promoting manliness, strength, renegade and jungle warfare, cut the wierd experiments and alien stuff, leave that to bungie.
3. GOOD MAPS - Belive it or not, good rushers do not run straight out into the open, they use cover. Set up the cover so that it is plentiful, and even. CoD4 is a great example of a game with good maps.
4. RUN SPEED - Needs to be higher than MW3, if you're going to die in 3 bullets, you can't have players move slowly too.
5. GOOD WEAPONS - a good weapon has a niche, shotguns come in a few flavours a OHK pump action, a 2HK semi auto, a 3HK full auto. Each gun has its purpose.
6. CRISP SOUNDS - Blops was terrible in the sound department, and the art design wasn't pleasant either. These add to the tone and feel, which is very important.
7. WEAPON PACK DLC - Weapons are a core part of the game, updating the game with new guns will make the game new again in 6 months and would be crazy popular. An update would be required for people who don't buy them that puts them in the game, but doesn't let people who haven't payed pick them up.
8. THE CAMPAIGN - The campaigns are too linear, I know it takes effort, but including a little bit of exploration for people to play around with during a mission could be fun. It would be awesome if they put you in a jungle with a squad. The helicopters and tank sections are always on rails too, they shouldn't even include anything like that.
9. MORE WALL GUNS - in zombies. Some would have to cost a lot though.
I'm honestly hoping that this is the year that the bubble finally bursts for Activision and their endless releasing of the same game. How are people not bored with the CoD games yet? There's probably loads of people who've been essentially playing the same game for four or five years. It's all they play, and then they rush to get the new one even though it's practically identical to the one they've already got. It's crazy. How can people play so much online deathmatch and not get sick of it? Put Call of Duty away, take off the headset and try something different. Broaden your horizons. Who knows, you may be very happy you did.x-2tha-z
American Dream + U.S Patriotic Pride. It looks like religion to me.

Alot of people, like myself, that wnet throught COD 4 on veteran really liked the challenge. It was REALLY hard. Especially the Mile High Club achievment. If the game is too easy then the achievments arnt really, well, acievments. The vetaran gameplay is supposed to be about knowing when to run and gun and when to take cover. It took me probably around 20 hours to complete cod 4(Including Mile high club) on veteran. I also had to use tutorials on you tube to beat it. It was so hard. After that MW2 MW3 Black ops were just a breeze on Vet. WAW on the otherhand was just hard because of gernades continuosly being thrown and i gave up on 3 levels because of thegernades. COD has gone to crap in my oppinion. Cod 4 was great because it brought a great new system of Multiplayer, but its been remade the sameway with small changes so manytimes. Cods system will always work for some, but alot of people have been getting extremly turned off by the series including myself. I was a huge fan of cod 4, WAW was great, Black ops is desent, but MW2 and 3 suck IMO

I only got Modern Warfare 2 because my girlfriend told me that she cheated on me and that she was really really sorry for it and said she cannot look at my face anymore because of the guilt, and she handed me the disk and left. I used to just avoid CoD games before that (Call of Duty 2 demo was really really hard for me). But meh, I was like it is either play that game, or be a jerk and throw away a present. So I played it. I never even got to play Modern Warfare (1), even though usually I have a self made rule that I play the games and read the books in order. So I do not know what kind of an experience that game was. Well, from what you said though, I will probably pick up the Warfare Collection (CoD 2, 3, WaW) and CoD 1 (which I already have but never played, was a Christmas sale some years back for 400 MSP). Maybe you are right about the difficulty.

Oh you just reminded me of the tunnel, that was the only reall difficult part for me. I do hate infinatly spawning enemies. One of my pet peeves.
Yea, after I beat Modern Warfare 3 on veteran, my self esteem was very high, and I put in CoD: Black Ops and started at the tunnel. I spent 4 days (12 hours a day) trying to beat that part. I am still stuck on that part (I got to the checkpoint, and died, as soon as it said checkpoint, and unlike Gears of War 3, that meant that I did not get the checkpoint).

No, if I make a joke, I usually type in, "*Joking...lol*" But yea, it is easy for some people, or maybe just you, not sure, but not easy for me. I am not good at First Person Shooters, and I am even worse at actually not running through people. I have always been Rambo type. In real life, this works for me, when I play football (you know this as, "soccer"), I do not do overly skillful tactics. ahh you started with MW3 on veteran, I can see why youd be suprised at the difficulty increase. It is drastically different.

Yes, that extremely p!$$ed me off too. I can not get through it either. My friend have 1575 gamerscore for Black Ops cause he can not get through the tunnel on veteran.

Yes, that is exactly the kind of thing I "do not want" at all in any new game. There is difficult, and then...there is this. It is not impossible, but it is extremely difficult, to a degree that a certain number of failures will cause the loss of enjoyment and for some people, will signal the end of playing that game.

The Modern Warfare series gets worse yes, but Treyarch's CoD games get better and better.
World at War is my favorite CoD game from this gen, but Black Ops wasn't very good.
All CoD games need a leave of absense right now.

They would probably not follow this approach. What is more likely is that we will get a filler like Black Ops, and while we play it, maybe, luckily, they will listen to customer ideas, and build the real Call of Duty game in the way that customers actually like.
I would like to see them go back to WW2 or maybe Vietnam.
Edit: no, that's not quite true. What I'd really like to seea good shooter set in WW1. I know it would be difficult to make a good single-player game out of a war that seemed to involve a lot of suicidal charges straight into barbed wire and machine gun nests, but that's not an insurmountable obstacle (figuratively speaking). Make the protagnoist some kind of commando. Have some night missions. Throw in a couple crazy charges just for the effect. But the meat of the game could still be a fairly traditional FPS.
