But yeah I don't see the point of playing music with fake instruments for 170$ :? . I mean isn't games like Mass Effect, Assasin's Creed, Halo 3, The Orange Box, etc... are a better deal?

Your right in my opinion... kinda. i mean, 170 bones is alot of money to spend on a game. im getting GH3 but my gf is getting it for christmas. so technically, i didnt buy it.Topic

Im a part of that 2%!
Everyone seems to be looking for some grand explanation to help them "get it", but there isn't one. It's just a fun game, and isn't that what gaming is about? Having fun?
I bought the stand alone game and I'm using my Guitar Hero III guitar, and I'm loving it. It's a great pick up and play game to play when you don't feel like getting too deep into anything, and it's also great with friends. We all (most of us) share a great love for music, and games like Rock Band help us interact with the music we love. It's just great fun, and I don't see it as being a waste at all.
Why drive cars in a racing game? Go to Fontana Speedway and race. Whey shoot guns in FPS? Go take targeting practice. Why play Football in Madden? Go outside with your friends and play a real game. You see, everything can be trivialized in such a way, but if we did that then many of our favorite games wouldn't be so fun.
It's all about fun, and Rock Band is just fun.

The problem is Im lacking money, so tell me, why buy 1 great game if I can buy instead 2 great games(Assasins creed and Mass effect for an example)?Darth_Revan_666yourpoint is weak....if you have to ask this then it sounds to me that you have already made the decision to not buy rock band which is unfortunate cuz the drums and guitar are hella fun

I guess Im just a little sick of seeing games like these getting so much attention(like GH3 and Rock Band) from the media and the casual gamers while masterpieces like Starcraft, Half-life and of course MGS ;) being completely ignored. If games like MGS would be better known than casual gamers beacon like Rock Band/GH3 then gaming would be taking much more seriously.

Because you can have a hell of a fun time playing a music game with four friends playing one game. Assassins Creed and Mass Effect are amazing games, but I sure bet you/your friends don't like sitting down and watching someone else play. Rock Band is a party game and one to experience with friends and have a blast.
I preordered it today (not out until Canada until Dec. 20th), and I'm not regretting it one bit.
I just bought the game for $59.99 and used the GH guitars to play it..i'll buy the drum kit once its available seperately (maybe)and just not use the karaoke part so the game should cost me under $100 leaving out any DLC I get. you can always just buy astand-alone 360 GH guitar and the game if you don't have any of the peripherals and avoid the hefty price tagLand-0-Funk
You spent $60 on the game... Do you know how much the drums are going to cost seperatly? hmm try about $79.99 Your going to spend over $100 on rockband my friend.
I bought the bundle and dont regret it at all. I play Rock Band more then any game I have atm. Its alot better playing with your friends. But the game solo isnt bad at all.

well....it does teach you how to play real drums (on hard/expert)if that makes you feel better towards the game? i've always been a fan of the rythm genre so as soon as i heard of rock band i instantly knew that i was gonna love it. harmonix makes great games :).

$79.99? I guess I won't be buying the drums then. Still would rather buy the game alone than have all that crap for $170..twoGH guitars is enough thank you
I dont see all the fuss about this game.
And before i get yelled @... yes i LOVE music, its one of my favorite things. But these games are just not fun to me at all, i find them very boring. Ill go play some sax, keyboard, bass guitar or jump on my mpc if i want to make some music. Not jump on my gaming ssytem.
BUt to each there own, if peopel have fun with these games then all the more power to them, because its all about you, yourself having a good time.
