Despite it's goofball storytelling style, Ace Combat 6 has better a feeling of flight. And it has siege mode in online multiplayer.
However, HAWX does have coop through the whole campaign and the leveling system taken from Vegas 2 where progressing in level unlocks aircraft and weapon loadouts.
HAWX is more of an arcade while Ace Combat is more of a sim. I would go for HAWX for the wider selection of planes and it's a lot of fun. I also love how HAWX has amazing graphics and the feature of coop.
acecombat by a mile! apart from the story line... its better in every way hawx is a bit of a joke tbh, ace combat is also more epic and far mor prestigous theyve produced some of the best games on ps1/2 ace combat 3 the japanese version was a head of its time

Ace combat by far, it has a history of games behind it going back to the 90's. Solid and far more realistic, prefer the storyline aswell to be honest despite it being a bit cheesy. Hawx however might overcome Ace if it continues though, has potential but ace combat still stands strong at the top of the podium.
Ace Combat 6, in my opinion, is the best air combat game for the consoles. however, HAWX takes a different standpoint on the genre completely and makes it more like a shooter/action film. What you want in a game is your choice, so if you are looking for a serious air combat game you should go for ace combat 6.
