So I moved up to hard difficulty a few days ago (GH3) and after getting to tier 6, i can FINALLY 5* 'One' on medium (not brilliant, i know but it's the end part that really gets me). What i noticed though, was that i was only enjoying it when i was hitting interesting note patterns.
What do i mean by that? Well, let's take an example. 'Talk dirty to me' was a song i had great difficulty on due to the long streams of orange/yellow chords with the held notes. It featured a number of sequences where i was simply holding down a fret button or two, and strumming at regular intervals. This is fine in small doses, as it gives me some respite from huge hammer on sequences. But this song was almost entirely composed of samey, repetitive 'strumming sequences' these, aside from wrecking my wrist, were boring as hell, in my opinion.
'One' on medium however is a different story. for almost the entirety of the song i was faced with a series of single notes arranged at different intervals, using different frets, it was not incredibly difficult, but was intresting and fun to play. Even towards the end, the song didn't focus too much on mindless strumming, and more on complex sequences, broken up by strumming.
The point is that GH is fun for me when it gives me skilled hand movements to think about, coupled with good songs. Do you agree? Or do you enjoy what i hate?
