great story! Fleshed out world. its great to be able to explore planets, have squad control, upgrade weapons, play fast paced shooting style, and upgrade your weapons and characters in tons of different ways. This is a game that is greater than the sum of its parts. its 15 buck used. go to gamestop you can keep a used game for two weeks. If you don't like it you can return it and get another game with the 15 bucks or pre-order something else.

It has very immersive gameplay for one thing. It has one of the best between-character dialogue systems ever created in a video game. It also has a really awesome story line, cool powers, and a lot of different environments to explore. I liked Mass Effect because it made me actually care about the characters I was playing with. You will sometimes be forced to choose which one of your team members lives, and which one dies.

It is an amazing RPG. The characters develop over time, you get to go on the hunt and learn about all the species and how they interact. You get to save the galaxy, that sort of stuff. You aren't going to get that in a demo. Now, the demo did show you probably, how much you might like the combat... and if you can't stand it, that might be a reason NOT to play it. But if you have any WRPG love in you, I think you should at least get it and play though on Easy or Normal mode just for the RPG elements. Make sure to turn off the subtitles to add to the experience.

It has a good story and some very good characters. The world seens to borrow some from shows like Babylon 5 but it is really good for a first game using it. It's probably Biowares worst game, ignoring anything done on handhelds but it is still really good. It's nothing amazing but the sequel will likely improve much of what was wrong with the first (driving, party member dialoge during missions, party interaction, make combat more fun and difficult, halfway decent inventory, fix bugs, better sidequest, varied worlds not part of the main story). If you plan to play the second playing through the first is also a good idea to get the backstory and to import your saved game for the second.

Its a great game.

But its hard to play it more then one time, because then you really start to see the horrible framerates and texture popins.

Cant believe they actually released the game in that state.

A better question would be "What's not to like about Mass Effect?" Seriously, you should go buy this game.

  • Incredibly immersive story
  • Detailed and fleshed out characters
  • Moral choices that will progressively get harder to make
  • Excellent combat(at least in my opinion)
  • Long storyline
  • Hours upon hours of side quests
  • Squad combat/tactics
  • Numerous ways to go through the story
  • Upgrade your weapons and armor along with the weapons and armor of your squad
  • Numerous worlds to explore
  • DLC
  • And lastly, it's made by BioWare. Honestly, it being made by BioWare is all you should need to know about a game before you buy it.

And liking Fallout 3, won't necessarily mean that you'll like Mass Effect. They're pretty different games.

Everything. Although it takes a little while to get into it, the world is just so big and the characters are so interesting.

You can't possibly understand how awsome Mass Effect if from a DEMO. It's take a while for you to learn the combat and get into the story. Just buy it and play it. You will not be dissapointed.

The M35 Mako (the game's vehicle) is pretty wonky when it comes to controls but it's one of the very rare negatives of the game. It's not terrible to drive but it's not great either.

It really is an amazing game, you won't be disappointed. I'd suggest the Platinum Hits edition so you get the DLC for free.

You do know that vehicle has boosters on it, and you can jump over any incoming missles or bullets or what ever is being shot at you. It is really hard to get blown up in the Mako. and you can use your omni-gel to repair it duing battle.

Don't get me wrong, Mass Effect is my fav RPG this gen but I'm just going by general complaints and to not expect this game to be near-flawless like I first felt playing it.

I think the atmosphere is really good and overall it's exciting and fun at the same time. You'll get loads of firearms to use and heaps of places to visit and the game takes a while to complete and has great replay value.

Well i finally bought the game today and played it for a few hours and its not bad better then i thought. The only thing is its just to much walking around tryin to find this person and that person. I was kinda hoping for more action right way but i guess its going to take a bit to get really into it. One more thing way to many elevators lol.

I personally thought Kaidan was annoying as hell, he would point the stupidest things out. I gladly left him to his fate and saved Ashley.

The splendor I see in Mass Effect is in the way everything is presented. Graphics look great, and it feels almost like a movie, only one where you play the action and choose how the plot goes. It's lengthy and expansive, as well as witty and cutting edge. Yes, there are some technical problems, and the combat isn't completely ideal, but it is worth a play, especially if you are tired of the same old- same old

I really should try it, but based from what I have seen: My brother playing it it doesn't look amazing... everything seemed average to me including the shooting... there is also too much talking... there is also WAY too much text (mainly at the start) which is another reason I haven't played it... remember, I haven't actually played the game though...

It's an RPG that has action style combat, but it's not an action game. If you jump into it expecting Gears 2 with lesbian sex, you'll be disappointed. If you go in expecting a RPG you'll be pretty impressed at the RPG elements and will probably be surprised that the combat is actually pretty good.

At first I thought the gameplay was choppy and put it away....gave it another shot and once I figured out how to level up my team well the game starts to kick serious a$$...I played it as a soldier and just let my squad school enemies (they're like jedi except no lightsabers, but a shotgun works well in its stead)

Playing as a rogue is very cool...especially when you don't take any crap from the council....lets just say hanging up on the most powerful council in the universe several times leads to some great one-liners.
