I'd also agree with the Elder Scrolls. Half Life series is also very good. And in the future, please don't type in all caps, it makes it look like you're shouting at us.

MGS is average. (my opinion)

MGS 3 is a fantastic game. The stealth and action gameplay really have a good balance, and there'a always an edge twether your sneaking pasta gaurd or knocking him out. Plus, the story is magnificent, this franchise is one of the very few in games that could become a truly excellent film, or even a series. You can see this from the fantasticly directed cinematics throughout the game. They give such an insight into the charachters, and fantasticly set the premise and keep the plot going throughout the game. You always feel like your doing whatever your doing for a reason. Also, the well crafted boss battles offer unique behaviour patterns and gameplay mechaniques for each, which keeps everything feeling different. And you can't forget all the nuances in the game, from the collectable frogs to all the references to past games and tongue-in-cheek jokes made throughout. The only fault I could really find with the game would be that only fans of the entire Metal Gear series who know the entire plot will get the most out of the game. But it is still fantastic for any newcomer, and it's the reason I'll probably buy a PS3. Sorry, that divulged into a mini-review, but you get the picture ;)

For me it is between MGS and GTA they are both games that when i first really playing video games i was immediately hooked on them yes there are better series out there but they are my personal favourites.

i liked the Onimusha series even though i never beat any of them. also Sonic and the Rallisport series just keeps getting better and better. Halo.

I don't think this is going to be a very popular answer but my all-time favourite game was Call of Duty and it's expansion.... not that Call of Duty was innovative in anyway, but I think it's just a combination of the clan I was in, my friends who also played, the mod we ran on our server, etc. So with that, I would say that Call of Duty is one of my favourite series, although obviously the last two havn't been as spectacular. Other noteable mentions go to the ones that everyone talks about becuase, you know, they're blockbusters. Zelda, Metal Gear Solid, The Elder Scrolls, Half-Life, etc.

Wow...I hate to say this. Lord how I hate to say this, but I have to say that for pure longevity while still being among the best in genre...the Final Fantasy series.
