I'm willing to bet there are a lot of companies who are thinking demos might be hurting sales, giving players the opportunity to see they won't like it.
Myself on the other hand, demos have gotten me to purchase more games than not, but there still is a few games that I had been planning on getting and the demo changed my mind.
I tend to notice, they only release demos with a high profile lately, games the publishers know will sell and often the demos are the best parts of the game...kinda like movie trailers, showing you the best bits, makes you buy it and then make you feel like you've wasted your money afterwards.
i can almost guarantee there wont be a grand theft auto one... R* doesnt need a demo to get people to buy the game.
im thinking that there will be a battlefield bad company demo though, most likely a multiplayer one, theyll want to show off the destruction

There is supposed to be a Battlefield: Bad Company multiplayer beta soon. Also, I think before its release there is also supposed to be a singleplayer demo.
