Whats up with all this red ring of death stuff? Like seriously, I really like the 360, and always wanted one, but all I hear about the 360 is that 80% of them are defective and the warranty is short = paying $130 for repair...maybe I should forget about 360.

Not all 360s are defective. I had mine since april of last year and I never had any problems with it. The warrenty is actually a year long for free.

Why do I see so many people complain about this, I'm scared to buy one and then have to pay hundreds of bucks to get it repaired. But thats the only reason I don't want to buy it.

Thats because you only hear from the people who have problems.  Every person that has a broken 360 posts here, you don't hear from the people that have working ones.  You don't see threads that say "Hooray!  My 360 works perfectly!"  If you are that scared that yours will break you can get pretty long warrenties from stores like bestbuy, although for a price.  I've had my 360 since January '06 (manufactured 12/05) and I have had no problems.

My 360 broke on me twice.  The first time it was still under the 90 day warranty.  I guess now they give a year warranty.  After the first time it broke, I bought the extended manufacturers warranty from MS for three years.  The second time it broke I think it would have still been under the year warranty.  I hope it doesn't die a third time.  The ring of death was the second time, the first time I didn't get a ring but my games kept on freezing...

I had a 360 a few months ago but sold it and then about a month later the person I sold it too complained that the system died. This happened about 1 month after the stupid 90 day warranty ran out and before MS extended the basic warranty for a year but I told him to keep complaining to MS and so they finally repaired it for free. I was gonna get a PS3 at the end of this year but now I'm leaning towards the 360 by end of this year since the bugs will be worked out. There's no way I would buy another one of these until I'm sure they fixed the manufacturing problems.

Dude, shut up. Almost everyone in this thread has answered you exactly the same. M$ fixed all the broken 360's. As a matter of fact, broken 360's have become damn near extinct.

Lol, I just want to know if MS fixed all the 360s or if people just mean MS fixed their own 360s, and if the broken 360s are extinct then I guess I will probably get one sometime this year

The wife bought me one for Christmas '06 and I already have problems, probably about fifteen to twenty  red rings of death and a few freezing issues, also last night my sound was all f'ed up and it wasn't my receiver or digital optical cable. In addition, there is always at least one person on my freinds list that is sans 360 while it is being repaired- however a couple of buddies got theirs back a couple of weeks ago knocking that down to one currently. Finally, I work in a 500,000sq. ft. facility that distributes electronics to BB's and FS's to the whole western half of Canada and there is a service depot attatched and to those who say " problem solved " come stand at the base of the 360 pyramid(in the service depot) and tell me such. At this point I would say beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is the breakyest game console in history. Having said that, buy an extended warranty and you have nothing to worry about, just remove your hard drive before you send it in for repair. But, before you go buying a 360 check the "latest news" headline for the Xepher or whatever.

A lot of the people who had their 360's break wither used the intercooler or played marathon sessions which caused tons of overheating.

Why do people get so freaked out over broken 360's? I don't see owners of Dell computers freak out nearly as much when they break down. Gaming consoles nowadays are pretty powerful computers. Much more powerful each generation. Here's a news flash: Electronics break down. The normal state for any electronic device is off or broken. Get over it.

exactly. thats why i mentioned the nyko intercooler. i drains ur system of power and does the opposite of what its supposed to do. it sometimes melts into peoples systems and burns out the 360. it also voids ur warrenty.

SO I WARN U DONT BUY THE NYKO INTERCOOLER!

Well, if I do decide to get a 360, I think I will just get a core with a memory card, cuz I dont use Live, and  I dont need 20GB of space. 64MB should be enough ( I have had a PS2 for 3 years and only have like 12 games)
