Whats up with the BC2 servers?

So, I have noticed over the past week or two that Bad Company 2 has been completely dead, and that struck me as odd, since the game has been so popular for so long. Then someone told me it was a server problem that was causing this drop in activity. What exactly is going on, and do we have any idea when it will be fixed?

I hope they fix it soon. The matchmaking is just entirely broken at the moment. I'm lucky if I can find a game with more than one other person in it. Sometimes it says it can't find a game at all, I found going to the dashboard and starting back up helps with that problem.

I am having the same problem. My friends that live on the west coast (USA) were not able to get into matches last week. Then I wasn't able to this past weekend. It may have something to do with the free to play Battlefield game on the PC that is in beta right now. EA/DICE were trying to get at least 10,000 players on their servers on saturday.

Everytime I try, it either says "searching" for like ever, or it says "searching" and then like 30 seconds later, says "no games available right now"

WTF is going on?
