I recently had a topic locked for asking what people thought of the ratings system on Gamespot.com. I did not use profanity, I was not bashing anyone, and I did acknowledge that I used to believe strongly in their ratings and some still might. There was nothing wrong with my post. I received a TOS Warning, all because I was asking something they didn't like, and they locked my topic. Much like they will probably lock this one. This is a violation of my freedom of speech. I'm not trying to sound preachy, but I would like to let my fellow posters know that this is further confirmation of what this site has become. Here is my previous post that was locked:

lol, you don't have free speech. Your in someone else's house now and he gets to make the rules... but I digress, this was a bad idea and will get you hit with the ban stick. Go over to the moderation forum and ask there (that won't get you in trouble)

I guess you are right, my friend. Freedom of speech doesn't live here. I should apologize for my above post. I forgot where I was. I was simply amazed by them locking my post when I shouldn't be surprised. Not one bit. See ya', guys!

No it really doesn't. This is byfar one of the worst forums ever (Mods are one of the worst, as are a majority of the users).

I suggest you use a better site.

there is no such thing as freedom of speech anywhere. ok, seriously you say one thing all of a sudden a group of people do a march because of it, but yet that group can say the (doublestandard in it) or if you and i quote bush "if you arent with me your with the terrorists" lol, when he has a 71% dissproval rating, seems 71% of the voters are considered terrorists. lol freedom of speech is a forbiddin concept, and a lie. so dont try to hide behind that shroud. and for this post i will prolly be made fun of, lol called names, try to be brought down in a derrogatory manner. but i accept that its how the world works sad, very sad but true.

dude these guys are no professionals, they are random people with "online cred" that are assigned to watch over the forums because they spend most of their days on a forum. this is their life, this is what they do. expect the worse out of them cause they don't get paid either. the only satisfaction they get is being online officers and that makes them feel important. the other day i was talking to one online and he said he feels important because he gets the attention he doesn't get in real life from friends and from that point on i just understand them. let them be happy and try to save your opinion or whatever for other forums. just don't expect much out of them and don't get frustrated. i understand you but nevermind them and just keep posting.

I agree, and maybe my problem was mentioning any names in my original post. Like I said, I wanted to hear how people felt about the reviews. Maybe they should listen instead of silencing me. Maybe they should see that over 70% of people polled feel the reviews on this site are a scam, influenced by advertising. BUt, they probably won't. They will probably lock this post down and ban me from this site, which I do not deserve. I have been loyal to this site for my gaming info for the last 2 years, and I feel I have a right to address current problems I think the site is having. Again, locking posts and banning users only further confirms the facts.

Yeah, they'll point to the TOS and that's about that. It's best just to avoid controversial subjects or anything that has to do with Gamespot as an entity. I know I learned my lesson. I used to be more out spoken, but people would report me if I conflicted with there opinioins. I put too much time into my name on here to have it banned. Actually, I'm really only on here when I'm at work slackin' off. but still.

exactly i can agree on that... just like this : "to test a man's character you give hime strength, to test a man's will, you give him power." and most abuse that power, cops, lawyers, judges, senators, presidents, priests, popes, and doctors. but i can agree with most of what you just said.

LMAO...you and me both, my brother. I agree. I do put too much time into my good name around these parts to have people banning me because I am outspoken. I guess I will just IM you, Ender, on XBL and b*tch about this website! LOL...

BTW - Speaking of my good name, look for me at WWE RAW on Monday, February 25th. I will be on camera all night. I'll help you guys out by bringing a giant sign that identifies me as "Del The Prophet". Don't miss it! I'll do a little dance for ya'!!

I'm thinking because the thread is about Gamespot ratings rather than about XB360 platform and related games and you did start it under "Xbox 360" forum. Probably more appropriate for the "GameSpot Support Forums".

Anything that brings up the Jeff G episode gets locked, and they probably felt that your post was targeting that discussion. In my opinion, the mods lock a lot of topics inappropriately. As for your free speech argument, it is bogus: this is a private site and they are legally allowed to make whatever rules they want in regards to forum conduct.

I think it was locked because I said a certain reviewers name, and that name seems like it is a bad word here on Gamespot. I said that guys name on other posts and it got locked, and I have seen other people say that name and the post got locked. So this post will get locked too soon once a Mod see's that name.

honestly yeah i feel like that sometimes, and so i think i would know how it feels but, no matter how alone i feel in this at times. there are always more out there that are not so blind or asleep, that think somewhat similar, or atleast close to the same page. though they may be miles and miles away... but i know what you are saying.

Moderators report to GS administration.

This topic, and the other topic, was locked, very obviously, for being off topic. If you have further questions about the Terms of Use to which you agreed before posting, I encourage you to read the Terms of Use, which you can easily get to by clicking the help link at the top of every page.

Good heavens, this drama over a thread that was locked for being clearly off-topic?
