Do you guys prefer to get your games on release day, or wait until the GOTY/Complete edition is out with all of the DLC included? I recently changed my policy on games and I'd rather wait until all of the DLC is released; this also allows all the bugs to be fixed by this time. What do you guys think?

I also follow the same policy, except now I don't think so since Halo 4 comes out next month. The last game I bought at full price was Skyrim which I thought was a good deal since you can literally spend 150+ hours in it. Then I waited to get ME3 for $20 during a sale and GeOW3 for $15 both new. I think waiting for the GOTY edition is better since you get the full package and saves you a lot from getting dlc seperately, but the downside of not getting a game at release are the spoilers. Youtube is full of it which ruined ME3 and Gears for me.

I usually buy the game I want when I have the extra cash, lucky for me I only buy certain games that I know will keep me busy for at least a year. If I have the dough around release then it will be picked up on release, if not I have no problem waiting.

Can't you just ask this question once in the Primary Games Discussion section?

It depends on the game. If its a game that I really dont want spoiled for me, then I get it on release day (Like Halo 4). If its a game I want, but Im not worried about spoilers then I'll get it whenever I have the extra money, whether thats release day or several months later (Like Call of Duty)

Usually i will not worry about DLC until later. Say its January and i know there are 10 titles coming out that year that i know i definitely want. Ill go to my local gamestop and spend 50.00 reserving them 10 titles. Now once or twice a month after that ill hold out money and divide it up between all the games. By the time holiday season rolls around i owe almost nothing on the games and im able to get all the titles i want but yeah generally i like to get them on release date. That people is how i support my video game addiction...

It depends on the game. If it is a must have game or one that i am a total fan or fanatic about, then i shell out full amount on day one. If it is a game that remotelly interests me then i will wait for a sale or buy on eBay (for a fraction of the original price)

It really depends on when the game is released and how much I want it.

Halo 4, for example, was a first-day get for me. Games like CoD that I'm not really sure about will usually wait a few weeks.

Most CoD games are released during holiday season anyway, so I wait until Black Friday or christmas for those.

If it's a game I want I'll buy it day one. If it's something that I'm interested in but can wait then i'll pick it up later when it's a little cheaper.

If it's a game I've been really looking forward to (like Halo 4), release date. No question. If I'm sorta kinda looking forward to it I'll wait until the weekend. Patience is key. lol

Big multiplayer games I like to get on release date, that way I can get ahead of the competition, but solo blockbusters I'll wait until price drops.

all depends how i feel about the game and possible deals. IF it's just something that looks cool but w/e i buy it way after release when it cheap/used. depending how price went down over time. Stuff that look cool and i want day one for sure. stuff like ac3. i want to play it but normally wouldn't pick it up day one like i did but microsoft store had pretty street deal on it and even if i picked it up few months down the road or deal i would it around the same price

If it's a game I just can't wait to play, I'll buy it day one. I did this with AC3, Halo 4 and a few others the last little bit. But if it's a game I can wait for and can't rent it I'll wait for a price drop. I did this with Sleeping Dogs, Portal 2 and quite a few others. It really depends on the value, not all games are worth $60. Some aren't even worth $30. And of course, the hype meter.

I'm like most - I buy most new ones once they hit the right price point, but do pre-order ones I'm really excited about.

Next year though, I'm planning on only allowing myself to buy 'underdog' games on day 1. So, no AC3 or Halo 4, for example... but Lollipop Chainsaw would be allowed. I'm lucky enough to be in a position now where I can take the gamble, and don't want the industry to disappear into nothing but COD clones. I know that my decision alone won't change that, but every little helps.

I buy all the big titles day one. It's true some of them start off a little glitchy but most of the time they are fixed in a day one patch, or at least within a week. Sooo yeah..

For me, it depends on how badly I want a game.

If I am extremely excited for a game and can't wait for it to come out, I'll buy it full price (ex: Halo 4, Syrim).

If I am interested in a game but have others to play (or just don't have much free time), I'll wait until I can catch it on sale.

For games I have a mild interest in but don't really want/need anytime soon, I'll wait until they drop into the $20-$40 range (a few months or more after release).

It doesnt matter as long as its not from Gamestop. Sorry but I now fully refuse to buy anything from that place. The face that games now have a onetime use code for all the online content is not their fault. But the fact that they still sell used games at grossly overpriced prices knowing this is unforgivable. Not to mention most of the time you can get a brand new copy of a game with the online code on Amazon for less than a used copy there. Add to it the stores are always under staffed and the kids that work there clearly are making minimum wage and have no customer service experience makes it one of the most loathsome places on earth.

I stick with Amazon or digital downloads now. If I ever saw a GREAT deal at Best Buy/Gamestop and I happened to be around one, sure, I'd grab it. But that rarely happens. Just too convenient to have it delivered.

Several months after release when they're $20. It's been a good policy so far.

I've been slowing down on buying games recently. I still have games that I haven't even finished/started from last Christmas so I'm trying to catch up before I get more. I wanted to get AC3 but I'm holding off until they release all DLC and then hopefully pick up a GOTY edition. I'm also waiting on a lot of DLC to go on sale before I pick it up unless it's something I'm really looking forward to.

I prioritise my games and decide which ones I want day one and which I can wait on for a price drop.
