I got my Xbox before halloween last year and it has been running perfectly. I have mostly been playing games installed off the hard drive though.

The weird thing is, when I had Wii, it broke TWICE. So the most reliable console breaks twice, and the least reliable hasn't even had any problems!

If you have had any problems with your 360, how long did it take to happen from when you bought it?

When does RROD occur? Usually around noon on Tuesdays. Seriously though, my first Xbox stopped reading discs a couple months after I bought it. My second RROD's in about a month. My current one I've had for over a year, I think.

There is no specific amount of time that has to pass. It is different for every console that has the potential of dying.

Out of the multiple bundles I've purchased, none of them got RROD, but I have heard of stories about how some people got RROD upon the very first start up (with a brand new unit).

Mine got E74 error, then I fixed it, then it got RROD. But because I opened to fix E74, I voided my warranty for RROD. Now E74 is covered for 3 years too.

depends all of my problems 7 total , started 6 months in for each of the 360s that have had problems

there is also seperate problems that can make your console act like its rrod -which is when if you dont have cord all the way in outlet it will display red lights 3 of them ,

just plug it all the way in ,, ,

if it does not go a way you got 3 red lights and theres no way to fix it not even the towel trick , that actually makes it worst obviously,

if you got a jasper your less likely to get it ,

falcons and other older chip sets are more prone to any problems,

including but not excluding e64 e75 disc scratching dre's no power -i had that happen to a falcon , i recently bought in 2008 december 25 is the date i actually played it ,

jaspers can do the above as well but the rrod is less likely,

it just depends,

we cant tell you when yours will go ,

the signs are

freezing constantly

not turning on

also if it gives red and green lines on tv when starting up it shows the x icon with loads of red and green lines thats a definate indication rrod is coming

as far as e74s etc , they jus happen ,

no signs or warnings , aside the fact a screen po psu pwith it ,

the 2 red light is over heating issue

the 1 red light is hard drive or e74 , ,

the 4 red light is obviously no av input

also note

3 red lights can happen to make you tihnk you have rrod if your ac adapter isnt fully inserted to a outlet or the connection from outlet to the adapter isnt all the way in or the adapter isnt all the way hooked to the 360 it self ,

check those if you ever get 3 red lights but if that is all in you got the rrod,

Wow, that sucks. I just make sure to not play 360 when it's too hot. That's why I moved it to the basement it's a lot cooler down there. That plus playing off the hard drive seems to not cause any problems.

Its my guess that mine died because the heatsink/cpu area was likely clogged with dust. My fan has been running at its highest (read: loudest) setting for a couple weeks now; I was getting very close to removing the warranty sticker so I could open the box and clean it. I'm pretty glad i didn't do so. Fortunately my brother will lend me his xbox until mine returns from repair, so assuming the repair process functions well this is actually a win for me. :D
