As for the TC, I think the X360 Elite would be that reliable version.

Yep the PS3 forum, a hot bed of completely accurate Xbox 360 information. Honestly, people just talk about the 360 problems a lot more, so it seems like there are way more problems than there really are. Personally, my 360 is over a year old, I've never felt it get hot nor have I ever noticed the DVD drive making any loud noises except for some occasional loading, but it definitely has never interfered with my enjoyment. The 360 is pretty reliable, its had some troubles, but regardless the system works as well now as any other consumer electronics device.

i smell troll....as for noisy, no its not, i cant hear it when im playing my games. i dont know why thats an issue to some people or do you like to try to sleep while you have a game in your xbox. as for overheating, i played oblivion for 5 hours strait with no coolent on and had no problem. it gets hot after long sessions of gaming, and if your into that, then get a coolent usb fan from EB. i bought my 360 aroud november and ive never had a "defect" so either take this advice and get one if you want to, but if your a troll then you can shove it up your a**.

Matt Cassamassina at IGN is currently on his fifth xbox 360, I'd say they are far from reliable. On the bright side, some things are gradually being fixed over time. For example, the problem with it eating discs has been fixed in newer units, and a redesign of the CPU used in 360s now is supposed to keep it from overheating as much.
Â
Don't sit back and wait for Microsoft to announce a new, fixed, version of the 360 though, they're just been subtly improving it over time. And will probably continue to.

Im on my 7th. MS finally sent me a new one instead of a refurb and its actually quiet and runs a bit cooler than the others. MS is suppose to be releasing a 360 with 65nm chips that will run more efficient and cooler but there is no release date yet for that, plus the 360s now are suppose to be fixed so like the guy I quoted said dont sit back and wait, buy one now.
There shouldnt be any more problems....Im hoping anyway.Â
