For me, I played Halo 1, and loved it. Loved going over to my friends house and setting the grenades to unlimited, loved the introduction into the Halo universe. By the time Halo 2 was around I was a total freak. I bought the Halo 2 slurpees, bought all of the stupid novels, bought an action figure (which I don't usually do). But when Halo 3 came out I was pretty much bored with everything about it.

So my question is:

During which game did you become obsessed with Halo?

Halo 1 (2001-2004)

Halo 2 (2004-2007)

Halo 3 (2007-present)

Halo 1 for sure. I have fond memories of the days when you and your 3 buds would just chill out on the couch and have a blast shootin eachother. Then things got real interesting with system link. Nowadays half the games out there don't even support split screen

Halo 2 times...I always had a buddy to play with me split-screen online. I beat the campaign like 20 times.

Good times....

I've never been obsessed with Halo. I moderately enjoyed Halo 1 for the PC back in the day but it grew stale rather quickly.

Over the past week playing Halo Wars. I had fun playing Halo 1 and 2 co-op with a friend. Halo 3 I only played solo and it was meh. Halo Wars...Halo Wars is the first Halo game, and first console strategy game, I have loved.

Halo 1 for sure, so many hours spent on it. Halo 2 was the same as well, and I was really excited for Halo 3 but not into it that much anymore.

Halo 2. Every one with an xbox was playing Halo 2, custom games were the most fun, glitching!, and just everything about it.

On Halo 2 after beating the campaign, I loved playing the first mission in the city.

I can still remember Johnson saying "Jackels in the courtyard!"

I remember we would always play Halo 1 at my friends house...and once we did system link with 8 people and we were like "WOA theres so much people!" (compare that to 16 online nowadays). Halo 2 was pretty cool, and I was soo hyped for Halo 3 until it came out...I played it for a c ouple of months and now...i don't even touch it. What was once my favorite franchise just became another gaming series for me.

Definitely Halo: Combat Evolved. The first Halo introduced numerous innovations to the shooter genre, and is in my opinion, one of the best shooters ever made. The sequels offered minor improvements on the same formula.

What new things did Halo introduce? I wasn't that big of a gamer back then and i'm curious about what it introduced.

The first game, Combat Evolved. I just recently played it for the first time when I downloaded it the other day, and it's pretty fun. I thought that the Warthog had an interesting control system - driving with both joysticks. You think it would be so awkward, but it actually kind of makes you feel like you are driving some sort of vehicle when you control it. I am still very new to the game, so I haven't had my 3 seconds of fame with Halo yet, but I have a feeling that as the game picks up I'll be bound to run into something. Oh, and I did pretty decent with the sniper rifle also, gotta love the night-vision.

Now? The only time I was ever really angry at Halo is when I read Halo Uprising. I loved all four games, my favorite being the PC version of Halo: Combat Evolved. I've read all but one of the novels and I loved them all. The only part of the series I don't like is the Uprising comic book series. I'll love Halo till/if the series is ever truly mistreated and then I'll just think fondly of the good times. I worry that I'm a fanboy, but what difference does it make? I'm having a good time.

I think currently, since halo wars, since the game contributes to events before the halo event, shows how much depth the franchise actually has.
I'm thinking about actually getting the books now.

halo 1 all the way. it was all about getting together with a group of your buddies and having a good time. the online editions just dont replicate that feeling. if i wanted to listen to a bunch of preteens screaming and whining, i would rather go to the mall or a movie.

As much as I have enjoyed the hell out of all the games, especially the multiplayer in all of them, it would have to be the very first day I played it. Xbox just came out and I was not at all interested. A friend got Xbox, and I ventured over to watch, as I heard the graphics were awesome. I saw Halo... We all played co-op ALL day long, and barely a word was said. It was, without a doubt, probably the most defining moment in gaming for me thus far. It was, and still is, incredible. The only thing I hate about the campaign is how it makes Halo 2 and 3's campaign look horrible. Me and the guys spent most of the weekends for the next three years playing system link. Ahhh... the memories.

My friend got an Xbox and the original Halo when it launched in 2001. At that time, I was a PS2 devotee, and a firm doubter in Microsoft releasing a console. About two weeks after the launch, that same friend invited me over to check out halo and to see what the Xbox was all about. We finished the entire campaign co-op in one sitting in just under 10 hours that day. The following payday, I went and put money down on my own xbox and copy of halo. From there it went to LAN parties at my place, then Halo 2 and XboxLive, and I still play Halo 3 at least once a week with that same friend and a few others. I still love it. I've been there since two weeks after launch, and I don't doubt Microsoft anymore.

I'd have to say Halo 1 lan, and Halo 2 Live. I played Halo 2 until 2006, when GOW came out. I still to this day feel that Halo 2, for a long time, had the best online MP; even better than 360 games. Halo 3 was fantastic as well, however, it didnt keep hooked as long.

Halo 2. For the first time experiencing xbox live with Halo was amazing. Play with friends all night, all day, it was a blast. Especially with super bounces and being able to do things that you are no longer able to, like sword cancel to get out of maps.

The original Halo was the best. Halo 2 was good for awhile and then become sickening. By the time Halo 3 rolled around I had lost interest in the series. Original Halo is still fun though.

Again with this stupid claim that Forge ripped off Timesplitters. You are blind I swear. The two editors are totally different. Timesplitters is twice as detailed, Forge mode on Halo3 is just for modifying maps for Machinima and odd gametypes.

The only downhill spiral Halo went through was when it's fans decided that the little statistics they have in game matter and that they would be important if they were high ranked. The downhill spiral is thanks to the community, despite your claims, the game is fine. I see no flaws. Nothing.

You say they added nothing? You fired a BR in Halo3? You say they added nothing? Must not have noticed all those vehicle changes.

Custom Armor in MM, Forge, New maps whenever Bungie decides they need more money. Double EXP weekends, Better trueskill system, Four player Co-Op campaign, New weapons and Vehicles.

I can go on. Yet you must have missed all that. What did you expect? A cover system? Why fix a series that had it's system figured out? Halo2 was their peak. Halo3 took the peak and sharpened it, tried to perfect it. That is all anyone could have hoped for. Did they deliver? Sure did.

You can't be expected to like it just because it doesn't suck, but your ignorance bugs me. It's like you played it, decided you didn't like it, then decided that if you didn't like it the title must have been this total crap flop and that it can't be hardcore or well put together if you don't enjoy it as much as the next guy.

In relation to this thread. I entered the series at Halo2 only six months before the release of Halo3. My best ranking was my 39 in Team SWAT in Halo 2. I like the Halo2 game in it's entirity. I enjoyed a good portion of Halo3 despite some things I felt needed to be changed to promote fairness. From release, all the problems I had except a single one have been adressed and fixed. I turned my Halo3 copy in for good at my local Gamestop. I have no intention of repurchase. The thing that makes this game mediocre is not it's content but it's players. The players/cheater/haters/whiners/elitists/sexists/racists of the Halo3 Muliplayer mode made the game an unplayable peice of garbage. It was sad really having to leave it after growing sick of it's fanbase, but I don't regret it. I reside in CoD:WaW, same brainless shooter world with a muchmore 'toned down' community. Either way. They are great games. It's community however is still crap.

The first Halo on the PC. I played that online alot longer than I did Halo 2 and 3.
