Personally, I would say that your 360 can last over 2 years with no issues at all.
My 360 was purchased in March of 2006 (a 'pro' without HDMI output), and, I usually have no worries when I power it on, if it will get the RROD.
I will say that I keep it laying flat (horizontal), keep the air in the room at 74-75 degrees Fahrenheit (central air), give the system 1-2 ft clearance on the left, right, top and behind, and keep anything away from the power brick (sitting on carpet) at least a foot away.
There is a chance your system will 'give out' the next time it's powered on, but there is also a chance you will get tired of your system before it 'gives out'.
