Over the last year the Elite model came out then the Halo 3 model for the holidays. Both came equipped with the new "falcon" chips that run more efficiently and therefore reduce the chance of system failure.

When does the next model/version come out? I have held off buying a 360 due to the high percentage of faulty 360 models over the 360's lifespan. Each version seems to fix more and more problems, but I am waiting for the next version.

Any concrete news on the next wave of 360 versions?

There is no news on the next version of the 360. There is only rumors about one equipped with an internal HD-DVD drive but i think with toshiba abandoning the format kills that rumor.

Microsoft has to be manufacturing another version as we speak (or already has) since the Halo 3 version have basically sold out.

I heared JAsper comes in august, it's just as good as the other chipsets except that it lest the 360 run cooler. It's sepose to 'fix' the 360. And then there is valhalla it's sepose to increase the speed of the 360 but at this point it stil overheats. I hope they stick to Jasper, if Valhalla makes the 360 faster AND cooler then all the original 360 owners will feel betrayed.

Actually, I'd feel betrayed if they didn't have a free replacement program.

And they wont, atleast I cant see them replacing 11 million consoles so I doubt theyll do that. Everybody who gets PROD should get Jasperand it's understandable that they wont replace all consoles that havent gotten the red lights yet. But Valhalla is sepose to increase the performance, and that's unfair, they shouldnt make a chipset to increase performance. Before you know it there are games that run average on the older sets because they've been optimized for Valhalla.

MS said from the beginning that the Halo 3 model was a limited edition so it being sold out has nothing to do with a new model.

What models now have the falcon chip other than the Elite? (since the halo 3 edition is sold out and I don't want to spend $450)

I am quite sure all models made after June 2007 have the Falcon. Something I am wondering, is do all HDMI capable 360 Pro's have the new falcon chip? And do these new models still get the three year warranty?

What is the difference between a 'pro' and premium? Do they both have Falcon chips?

Sorry, but nor the Elite, and only some series of the Halo Ed. had the falcon chipset. Also the falcon CPU is a halfassed solution, since you need 65nm for the GPU as well, because the GPU is often what breaks! I'm baffled Microsoft isn't speeding these things up, and also add a real silent DVD-player to release a slimmer, silenter more reliable 360.

They are the same thing, and I do not know if they have Falcon Chips. I have heard that the overheating problems are fixed, but not from any real sources. Just people talking.
