i wonder how many people who keep their xbox360's in an enclosed area, have had their xbox360's die. i bet there would be a high percentage of this being true for most of the broken xbox360's...... i keep my 360 in a nice open area. there are no objects next to any of the sides of my 360. i have left my 360 on for a day at some points and it is still doing fine.... granted my 360 was manufactured in february of 06... but i think the heating issues affects all 360's.

Where do you guys keep your 360?
places where you should not keep your 360:
- in a wall unit
- next to a wall unit
- under a desk( dust and heat)
- next to another electronic appliance
- on top of another appliance
- with the back end near a wall
- in sunlight

.... my 360 doesn't even get all that hot like other people say theirs does..... so whats up?

ummmmmmmm...it gets hot no matter what b/c of a huge 90nm processor chip and a design flaw which doesn't cool it properly. thats it.

I Found it is better to keep you 360 on a shelf or stand next to the window. I have had mine since the second generation came out, and keep my fingers crossed. i have not had any problem's or overheating. The only complaint that i have is those damn skins for the 360. removable my ass. Once it is on there your left with all that Glue on there. STAY AWAY FROM THE SKINS!!!

Number one killer of XBOX360 is constant voltage flunctuations. plug your XBOX360 to a wall outlet, and not a surge protector!!!!!!!!!! 90% of people who gets the three red lights do notplug their X360 to wall!!

i know where i am going to keep mine, because i do not have one yet.

on a low table where we keep our tv, on top of our dvd player and plugged into the outlet that is not too far away, no extension cord no surge protector, if they are not the same thing.

wow thats a really horrible place to put it....... i'm not bashing you angrily..... but i have noticed when the exhaust gets going... the xbox360 sucks in air at the sides( standing up), top and bottom, and then dispells it out the back( which is why the noise is so much...... all the air intake)......also the air about up to 3-5 inches behind the 360 iliterally heats up...... with it inside that compartment... the hot air is going to recycle into the 360... which will most likely have an adverse effect..... just a thought

i hope its not next to any of the vents from your t.v.. for the xbox360 intakes air at the sides and the top( standing up)..... which can possibly lead to the 360 intaking the hot ait from the t.v., which could have an adverse effect..... just a warning

i hope you know that the 360 intakes air at its sides, top, and bottom..... your 360 might be intaking some heat from your stereo system... or might not be getting enough fresh air.... just a warning

Where the heck am I supposed to put it then? The room is small as it is and that's where it's been since April and I've had no problems with it so far and there have been days where I've played for 6 to 7 hours at a time. Those shelves on the cabinet were designed for putting your DVD player, Game consoles and the like.

I could put it on the carpet...but then people say, that's a bad place to put it, so where does it end? I think it's a design flaw of the 360, itcan overheat no matter where you put it. Thank God for the new 3 year warranty.

i keep mine fairly high up on a tv stand with no back panel and its more than 6" away from any other electronics... i do have it in a surge protector but thats only because power outages have been known to cause the 3 red lights (thunderstorms and whatnot) so yea.
