I would like to purchase an Xbox 360, an Elite if possible, and I'm wondering where the best place to buy it is. I really hate Best Buy and would like to have nothing to do with that place. Does anyone know how it is to purchase an Elite at Gamestop, EB Games, Circuit City, Walmart, etc.? Would any of these places have an Elite in stock? Which is better: the official Microsoft warranty or the Gamestop/Best Buy/etc. warranty? I've heard a lot and done some research, but can someone please list for me all the warranties available by Microsoft and what they cost? Thanks so much for this, it will really save me a lot of time and hassle.

Thanks.

Other store policies aside Gamecrazy gives you 12 free rentals and some really good coupons (although the coupons expire after a month) with any system purchase.

I got mine at Walmart and they have been getting about 4 a week.

Costco would be the BEST place to buy it if you can find an Elite in stock at a Costco. They have a lifetime guarentee on all their products - so if it breaks down ever you can just take it back to them and get another one.

Costco is a warehouse super club - so you have to buy a membership for about $35 a year - but in a situation like this it's well worth it.

There is a Costco.com - go check them out for details. There should be one locally for you as well though - somewhere. From their web page you can search for one in your area.

And yup it's a lifetime guarentee on everything - I know a guy who returned his television for a full refund 8 years affter he bought it and got a new HDTV from them.
