I dont like getting collectors editions. Its not worth the extra cash to me. 60 bucks for a standard game is already alot I couldnt imagine paying 10 or 20 bucks mroe for a couple stupid extras.
The only game in 2011 I would even consider buying the collector's edition is Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. KC_Hokie
I just got Oblivion IV off of gamefly and i have yet to play it and if i like it i will prob get skyrim on release date with the collectors (i get collectors on any games that i get on release date that has a option of collectors)

I like the standard green case. That is what makes it the Xbox case. It's unique to the xbox. The platinum hits case I suppose is as well, but it doesn't look as good as the green. It doesn't say "awesome".
I like the standard, I picked up a classics copy of Halo 3 so I can do local four player co op but it just looks crap sitting on the shelf, I may hide it somewhere else. I don't own as many collectors or limited editions as I would like to, just Mass Effect and Forza 3.
I never buy standard because they are a huge rip off. There is almost always something extra that comes out later down the road and you will end up paying more because you want to check it out. I bought Fallout 3 (standard) and that was 60. I then bought two outta the 3 DLC games, those were 20 a piece. We are up to 80. I now am buying points so I can purchase the pic packs, the theme, and Mothership Zeta. Everyone see my point?
Standard only. I find it pointless to buy collectors editions of a game as I'm only interested in the game itself - not the silly/pointless books and/or posters that accompany it. I'd probably look at it once.
I alsodon't buy collector's/special editions. The extras aren't usually temptingfor me, nor should they really be for anyone over 18. Or even 16 for that matter...It'susually just a low quality toyor something else you wouldn't actually wanna put out anywhere.
Not a big fan of the platinum cases either. I don't mind the grey "platinum" case so much. But I don't like the dump microsoft takes on the cover art with all the "Platinum Hits" stuff. Good thing is, you can always find a used copywith the original cover art for even cheaperthan it already is.
The only metal case I have is the Dragon Age CE and while its nice, its too bulky and Platinum Hits cases are ugly. My copy of L4D GOTY sticks out so bad among a sea of green cases. I'll go with standard :P
