Hi there. I just started playing Mass Effect and i'm confused about which class i should be. I'm thinking of being a soldier, but it doesn't give me any good powers i can use in combat. I'm not an RPG expert and i don't know what i should choose. SO to all the Pros out there, help me make my decision!!!

Well, try the soldier first if you plan on playing the campaign more than once.

If your playing on normal or casual, then your class doesn't really matter, but I would recommend starting out with a Soldier or Vanguard, they are both great and the Vanguard has some great powers.

It really depends on ur play style but i picked a vanguard which is a like a mixup class but vanguard can use assault rifles or snipers but overall a good class

You don't need to be an "RPG expert" to play Mass Effect. At all. Soldier has 1 ability per weapon that you can use after dedicating a few points to that weapon skill. The real tactical advantage to playing a Soldier, though, is weapon training (the other classes don't have weapon training with every weapon, and you can hardly even use a weapon you're not trained in). If you want to use abilities during combat but still have some weapon training, you can play as an Infiltrator or Vanguard (cross-classes between Soldier and Engineer and Soldier and Adept, respectively). And this should be in the Mass Effect forum.

I think Sentinel is best. You can use tech and biotic powers. Sentinel is definitely the most versatile.

It depends on your play style, and maybe try a different class on a new playthrough once you finish the game.

If you're used to shooters, give it a quick play through as a soldier. Once you're experienced, up the difficulty and change your class. Playing as a soldier is fun but not nearly as cool as the other classes.

if your soldier you can still get other guys in your party that have powers. i would reccomend being a soldier than having a teamate with you who is combat/tech and another who is combat/biotics. you don't need to go overboard on the powers.

don't pick Vanguard if you're hoping to enjoy some gunplay.

Vanguard has a couple of really awesome powers, namely shockwave. but I could never find uses for the shotgun, and using machine pistols and heavy pistols was just too boring.

Start your first playthrough as a soldier. Then you can experiment with other classes.

He's talking about ME2. ME1 Vanguards didn't have Shockwave, and were one of the best classes, whereas ME2 Vanguards are a bit underpowered. For ME1, go with Adept or Vanguard after you've played through once. Adept gets all of the awesome biotic powers (like Singularity), and Vanguard is awesome when played correctly.

If this is your first playthrough of Mass Effect, I recommend Soldier immediately, only because its much easier to get a grasp of.

try the soldier then if you like the way it plays with the soldier then stick with it i reccomend the 1st play through as a soldier and them later on try an adept the soldier is good for mowing down enemies and taking hits and if its the first mass effect choose soldier play through it twice then get the second mass effect and carry over your character to get the best machine gun in mass effect 2 hope i helped
