I have been considering a cooling system for the 360 for a little while now and wanted to know which system was the best I have been looking at both the Intec Cooling Station, and the Nyko intercooler, has anyone used one or the other and are they really worth it?

My 360 get very hot in my room even though it is in a well ventilated area on top of my T.V. stand so I think if these really do what they say they do then they would be a great investment.

thanks for the feedback

I wouldn't bother. I heard that they go over one of your vents so it doesn't really help anything and they just melt and ruin your xbox and void your warrenty. That might be something different but i heard that it does happen with something along thouse lines.

I wouldn't get a cooler. If your 360 is going to die from overheating, let it. Then you can get it fixed with the 3 year warranty. Once you get the fixed one, hopefully you won't have to worry about heat.

I would go with this one

Not only does it have the fans, but it also adds a bunch of handy standard A/V video connections on the back too. (no HDMI though *sniff)

No don't buy one! There's a huge chance that they'll screw ur 360! They screwed mine! I heard this from an MS guy on the phone. If it takes power from the 360 usb portsit will screw with the inner mechanics because they're not supposed to do that. I'm not saying its definently going to happen but I suggest u don't use it. Also check the warranty. I think there's somthng in it about fans and the warranty being off it thats why it breaks...

Fresh air in an open space is the best and only cooling system you need.

You do Know that the Ring of death is casued by heat issues. and They have a super speedy 1 month repair time

  • 5 days to send you a box
  • 5 days to send it back
  • 2 weeks at the repair center
  • 5 days to send it to you again.

A lot of people seem to be talking about the Nyko, but what about the intercooler by intec, it is the one that goes on the base of the 360and sends air up throughout the 360 has anyone tried it yet?

These fans are a huge waste of money. I've fell asleep several times and left my 360 running all night (sorry Al Gore) and I've never had any problems.

I think there's more evidence to support these fans damaging your 360 than there is that they prevent the RRoD.

That Pelican Pro Cooler looks useful and practical. I'd pick that up if I were to get an aftermarket cooler... which I'm not ;) Check it out.

You can make one yourself. First you get 10 cubes of ice and you put them into a plastic bag. And then set that plastic bag on top of the system, but make sure you first put holes in the bag so it can breath. That should take care of your over heated system.

I have my 360 and my other game systems on my wire style steel triple enforced lab rack. Everything stays cool enough without an outside cooler. Proper ventilation is always the best thing for cooling issues.

People also seem to forget to dust thier entertainment areas and that will lead to overheating as well. As a matter of fact if you have ever opened a PC after a good year and take a look at your heat sink in your PC, well let me tell you it will look like a small mouse is sitting on your motherboard. Dusting is very very important as you'll never open your 360 to be able to clean it.

I just use those air cans with the straws and blow out the back and side vents and then open the tray and blow it out from the back.

Intercoolers are bad for your system, wrecks just about everything and voids your warranty.

I use the intec notebook cooler. It has an aluminum surface that absorbs the heat. I also have two 4inch desk fans. I have one at the back of my console facing away so that it blows hot air, and I have one the side, which blows cool air in. I know this system is alot, but with the overheatin issues. I think this is the best method. both fans use their own power source and the notebook cooler is plugged into the usb. It may seem useless because it uses the 360s power to reduce heat, but it actually works, you could check the reviews online.

wouldnt recommend the nyko intercooler because it melted to the back of my 360. voiding the warranty is not a issue with the nyko cooler tho because nyko replaces your 360 if the intercooler damages it. im waiting for my new360 to come in the mailnow. nyko even covered the shipping. their replacement period is 2-3 weeks.

the messed up thing is that i was actually trying to remove the intercooler from my 360 because i had just heard about the 3 year warranty extension frommicrosoft. thats when i noticed that it had melted to my 360. it had to just happen the night before, because i didnt notice it until then. No need for a cooling system, it's a marketing scam set up by paranoid idiots who read too much into these things.

Back when I had my 360 I had the cooling system that went on the back and under it and ran them both at the same time, HOWEVER! I hooked it up to its OWN power source as not to use any off of the 360, They worked great like that and the 360 never got hot, I also put a thin filter pad over each fan, If not all the dust n junk will fill up your 360 REAL fast, Just make sure you keep the filter clean or get new one on it every so often, Before that I had it set up next to my AC and built a lil air duct to aim it at the intake of the 360 fans, That worked great to, But its a bit extrem building all that and haveing it on one side of the room n wires running all the way to the other to the tv n whatnot, Just try it out, Thats the only way to see if it works for you or not

A friend who repairs Xbox 360s told me the best one is the one that is conected to the xbox AC cord. That way it draws power first, then the power goes to the 360, and it has better cooling. Get this one, I think there is a cheap Nyko one that goes like this. There is another one conected with a green wire but in that one, power goes into the 360 then into the cooler, so if the cooler draws power, it has to go through the 360 first, overheating it even more. So don't get this one

Don't get one they are bad for the system, the block vents and draw power away from the therefor causing the rrod or at least making it more likely. If you must get one then get power seperately and not by the system though I would recommend never using one and just keeping your system ventilated and in a open area.

i wouldn't bother with getting a cooling system, just install the games on ur hard drive and ur system will stay cool.
