Well Arkham City is a development on the size, the story, the combat system, villain character involvement, re-playability and hours worth of gameplay on Arkham Asylum so I'd be surprised if Arkham Asylum won this battle.
The only thing I preferred in the original was that move where Batman picks up a guy and throws him at another. Such a simple move but it was my favorite. Maybe he will use it again in Origins.
I prefered Asylum, not that city was a bad game but the city certainly wasnt much fun to explore after the first 8 hours or so. I enjoyed the focus of Asylum I guess.
Although Arkham Asylum was the first out, and was an amazing game (both are among my top 10 favorites i would say). Arkham City had more move sets, More characters, and overall more to add onto the story even after the main campaign was all done and completed.Â
I would say Arkham City simply for the fact that its Arkham Asylum, but improved.Â

I do agree with this statement as well. Asylum for the most part, had a better storyline. Personally, i just thought City was better...well, i already stated this in my original post, but it had more even after the campaign was over...far more. And i loved being nightwing.Â

I was asking on this the Xbox360 board. The one from the PS3 board was the one that I had created, but since no one else responded I made another one here on the Xbox360 board. Ths PGD board I have no idea in what that is.Why the heck do people keep making this thread. This should have been locked immediately.

Both are excellent games but I think I prefer City just because of the freedom and atmosphere in general. Arkham City is such a great and dreadful location and the combat is brutal to match it. I love it, there's so much to do.Â
Arkham Asylum was an ok game. The storyline had 1 or 2 good points - however in many areas I felt it was just mediocre. Gameplay was decent - but linear. Overall it was a decent action game - but it didn't exactly stand out from the pack.
Â
Then Arkham City came along and blew all that out of the water. Storyline was much more compelling and interesting. Many new improvements to the existing combat system. Awesome sidequests and plenty of new things to do abounded. It improved upon Asylum in pretty much every aspect imaginable - and in a few ones that weren't. I really can't say enough good things about this game.
Arkham City.
It was such a vast improvement. Better fighting system, more action, more story, side quests, upgrades, open world. Better music. Better enemies.Â
Arkham Asylum was the best for it's time, but AC is in a completely different league.Â

I liked asylum better.
City felt more like fetch quests in world of wacraft "Go there and get something", "Ok now go beat this guy on the other side of town", "Quick answer the phone down the street", "Wait go to this building and fight this guy then come back to me". The city also felt like just a big generic city while asylum felt more like something out of the batman universe. I also liked how asylum had a better variety to things while city was basically just different variations of big generic city. You had the asylum, outdoors areas, the greenhouse, the mansion and so on which gave it more variety.
I liked the story in asylum to, city was basically the same thing it was in the first 10 minutes as it was at the end.
Only thing I didnt like about asylum though was the final joker fight, that was just god awful.
But to me city took the basic idea of asylum and "made it bigger" but they also gave it less personality and less new feeling.
