Which FEAR did you like better?

i liked all of the games... but i do like the 1st one the best. the 2nd one was good, with some better visuals, along with the school chapter, i enjoyed that alot. but the original fear standed out more i think. what about you?

i like fear 2s gameplay better but fear 1s atmosphere is more chilling

Probably the original game, if only because of the sentimental value it still has for me. In terms of actual gameplay the second game is only slightly behind the first in my opinion. Either way I thought they were both excellent games and a must play for any horror or FPS enthusiast, though I realize both games have their flaws. I admit I'm a bit biased though hehehe.

Speaking of FEAR, is the first game's multiplayer dead by now or is it easy enough to find a game? I've been getting tired of Halo lately and FEAR was one of my favorite multiplayers back in the day so I was considering popping it in to play a few games here and there while I wait to get my own copy of the second game.

The original by a longshot. There's no comparison, in my opinion.

well ive only played Fear 1 n Fear 2. n i hated em all the same. but i think found Fear 2 less crappy. those huge Armor Droids were uber cool. i want one for xmas :D

The first fear all the way! The second one is just crap imo.

fear 2 has some sweet weapons, gamelay and more importantly changing scenery/enviroments but it lost so much atmosphere by doing that, first fear all the way for me-scariest game of all time.

P.S- anyone notice alma in the lift scene? swear to god i gasped seeing that

Even though FEAR 2 does have a better interface, better visuals and a larger variety of weapons and enviornments, I liked the first FEAR's storyline much better. I just like characters involved in the first one. The gameplay and visuals are better in the second one, but the better storyline is the first one. I was also more satisfied with the ending in the first game than in the second game.gr8scott

I agree except the graphics. Fear 2 has almost no shadows at all compared to the original game that has dynamic shadows on almost all objects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbzFfYwhz6

The particle effects have also recieved a downgrade since the first game.

While Fear 2 generally has a little better graphics in other areas the downgrade of particle effects and almost complete lack of shadows makes the first game better in that department as well imo.

Gotta go with the original Fear. Nothing too scary about 2, although gameplay was enhanced.

yeah i definitely liked the blood effects more in the 1st game. it looks too cartoonish when your in slo motion in the 2nd and why do the enemies glow? it doesnt make sense. the blood has like a shiny outline to it.. which really bothered me. and like you said about the lighting in the 1st game i definitely agree, needing the flashlight most of the time made a sense of creepiness. as opposed the 2nd game where the flashlight was hardly necessary. back to the blood theory in the original, how cool was it to shoot someone with a shotgun and have their body explode to see a nice decorative blood stain on the wall? :)

I don't remember my hair standing onplaying the first one like I didon the second one

Thats the only real part of the 2nd game that could be considered "scary". All the other scares are tame in comparison and cant compete with the scares in FEAR 1.

The first one was creepier than the second.

If fear was that much a factor I "might" agree with you, but the combat element was great and the different environments were awesome, FEAR 1 was boring, I could'nt even finish it. I could of cared less what was happening in that game after a few hours of play. It's like a great movie.......Anyway, that's how IK feel....not to discredit your thoughts

I liked Fear 2 more as a shooter/action game and Fear1 as more of a horror game, but in the end i liked FEAR 1 better because it scared me alot more.

I've played it, and I didn't find it the least bit scary. It was cliche. And to the posters talking about the particle effects and shadows. I completely agree. I found the original to be much more polished, and I loved the particle effects as they made the CQB that much more intense. FEAR 2's combat just seemed kind of meh in comparison.

On topic, I prefer F.E.A.R. But, that doesn't mean that F.E.A.R. 2 is terrible. It's just preference. I enjoyed F.E.A.R. 2.

Just because one person has trouble finding a game doesnt mean everyone else will.

I've only played the original, but I played it on both PC and 360 and it was still damn fun on a second playthrough, but I haven't heard great things about the sequel so I chose to pass on it.
