I am not sure whether to get the 60GB Pro or the 120GB Elite, because I heard with the fall update we will be able to do an optional full hard drive installations of future X360 games. Obviously these games will take up huge amounts of space like 10GB per game. I heard Forza 3 will come on 2 discs so that might have an optional hard drive installation.

If you are gonna be installing games to the HDD after the update then go for the ELITE.

IMO it looks better than the white XBOX and comes with HDMI cable etc. With the current price drop its worth picking one up even if you don't fill the Hard Drive.

I upgraded my 360 after the disk drive broke, i took it back to the store paid an extra £10 and got an ELITE I have not as of yet filled the Hard Drive and this was like half a year ago maybe more!!

same here, I got it more than a year ago and the space goes from 80 - 90gb free depending on how many demos I have on it. Will probably install my 5 most played games so I feel like im using something :)

technically in every game but listen 2 this. i heard in a recent podcast that all future games coming out will already be compressed or whatever so you won't need to put them on your hardrive for faster loading times. So basically it is only good for your old games and don't forget that you still have to have the disc to play the disc on the harddrive.

I think the installation will be possible for every game, but in reality I doubt it will make any difference to older games - unless a game is designed to make use of it the difference in performance would be undetectable unless you have two systems side-by-side.

No

It will make every game have faster load time and remove glitches from the games.

Old or new.

Wow... Maybe you should look into read times of HDD's versus DVD's and get back to us.

You said it will work with every single game, can you give me the link to that info ??

If the games are compressed onto the DVD9 (holds 8.5GB max) then by installing it on to the hard drive it will be in its uncompressed form which means each game will be bigger than 9GB, right ??

I'm well aware of the differences, which are measured in ms (1000ths of a second) so small you can't tell the difference, so my previous statement is correct - the only way you will notice any improvement is if you have two identical consoles running side by side.

The 360's hard-drive is much faster than it's DVD-drive. If the data is going to be loaded off the hard-drive it'll make data load extremely faster, especially for a game like Mass Effect.

Yes it's every game, just take a look over Major Nelson's place.

As for the compressed issue, no it wont change. The disk will be the disk. If it's 6gig with compressed data the hard drive version will be 6gig with compressed data.

That's not the same as PC hard drive installations.

So for the X360 the differences in load times between the disc version and HDD version will be very small as the data still has to be uncompressed from the hard drive.

No

The "disk" once it's on the hard drive will be able to be read much quicker then a disk in the optical drive

An ISO on a hard drive will always run noticeably faster then the same on an optical drive.

Plus the glitches and such being fixed.

It's a good deal all the way around.

No game spinning in your console = less heat and less noise. So it's good for all games, even if the loading times weren't faster.
