up to this point Mass effect 2, let's see how skyrim, mass effect 3 or bioshock infinite turndoubalfaI think Skyrim will win it all, but ME3 looks promising too.
Mass Effect 2 is the greatest game I have ever played, let alone the greatest game of this generation. It is the first game that incorporated the decisions you made in it's prequel to have effect in the current game and sometimes your desicions had disastrous consequences. Mass Effect 2 engrossed you into it's world and gave you a connection to each character and their own personal situations. The cinematics were move-like and the graphics were top notch. I could further express my appreciation for Mass Effect 1 & 2 but it would have to be a blog post :P
Just one eh? "Red Dead Redemption" and now I feel dirty cuz I couldn't mention Mass Effect 2 or Bioshock or Call of Duty 2 or Dead Space or.....
No such thing as preferred but the ones that surprise me in a good way:
Alan wake
RDR
Borderlands
Splatterhouse
Bayonetta
Oblivion
Lost odyssey
MK9
Assassins Creed saga
Batman AA (haven't played AC yet)
Dead space
My vote would have to go with Bioshock - just for personal impact and setting the benchmark for originality (in my opinion)
COMPLETELY depends on what you're after. Story wise I would give to Heavy Rain, which has an absolutely gripping and touching story. MGS4 would be second if you played the previous games to get the full affect of what's even occurring in the game.
In terms of stunning environments, Bioshock. The list goes on.
My favorite game has been MW2 for multiplayer with God of War III for single player because I love the lore of Greek mythology.
I gotta say Mass Effect 2. Finally Bioware created the 1st game that held me in its grip from start to finish since Baldurs Gate 2. I'd rate it a 10.0, if it weren't for the planet scanning timesink,
Either fallout 3 or new vegas because of the great stories and the large amount of gameplay and replay value they have.
You'e going to get a TON of different answers. But in my opinion? Gears of War 3. It has a solid campaign, fantastic multi player, and the best co-op options currently available. It's an complete game. ACx7im just ganna go with this.elder scrolls and assassins creed
skyrim, callin it now
havent looked forward to a game this much since fallout 3 ( take into account fallout 2s interplay pretty much died and the thought of ever seeing another fallout was dim, let alone being made by the elder scroll's creators)
other than that, cod4
Fallout 3 or New Vegas for the gameplay and content amount.
Deadly Premonition for the best and most original story ever in a video game.
EvilSelf
ever?
best, maybe (thats ur opinion and i cant argue that)
but most original, well i disagree

From the games i have played, yes. The story is open to interpretations and and it is very well-developed.
Not having played that many games of this generation I must say the Assassin's Creed saga has so far kept me playing and interested for the longest time.
Even though I don't like to say this, but I'd have to go with the COD series, going back to COD4. They've broke record sales, their campaign, short, but still is pretty decent. They have different styles of co-op modes, and they have a multiplayer that keeps gamers involved for good while, not me though. I'm not a fan of COD, so this definitely isn't a fanboy remark either. (Hopefully I don't get busted too bad for this :D)
My personal favorite this generation has been the Assassin's Creed series. They have a great story that's kept me wanting more, and now they have multiplayer which adds so much more replayability. It's definitely a great game series.
