Which Gun would YOU recommend for RE5

Really? He's simply asking for advice about in-game weapons, but yet you felt you needed to **** about the gameplay direction that CAPCOM is taking RE in? I understand you complaints but this isn't the thread for that.

As per the OP, the starting weapons in each catigory are very well balances peices. If you plan to simply play through the game once, without stopping to either farm for money, or to cheat via douping, then they are very solid choices. The upgrades are cheap, they have the highest ammo capacity and are realativly powerful. The first rifle you get is my favorite rifle to this day.

As far as absolute favorites go, the hidden pistol (you can buy it for 30k after fully upgrading the first pistol) would probably be my favorite, 3 round burst and second(?) strongest pistol in the game. The handcanon (hidden mag, unlocked the same way but with the first mag instead of the first pistol) is a close second due to the stupid amount of power it has.

I personally would recommend working on the initial handgun, until you recieve the M3 Shotgun in Chapter 3-2 (I think). The M3 is essential for future playthroughs, IMO.

Any magnum, once you start upgrading them they do a one shot kill on pretty much anything. Best guns hands down

the M3 was my favorite shotgun until i upgraded everything else unlocked all the best weapons and got unlimited ammo for them.

go for the first magnum you get. it's a one hit kill no matter what. and once you get all the upgrades, that means infinite ammo! YAY! :Dorb_03_2006

I like the deagle the most purely based on its appearance, and the hydra because of the way you hold it when you aim :D

Try playing Dead Rising if you think RE was bad. I had no problems with the AI except for on professional you must not be very good.

I would upgrade and get infinite ammo for the M3 and the Hawk Magnum as well as the Dragonav. Those guns rock!

I stayed with all the second weapons i found in the game, because by the time i found the 3rd my other ones were almost totally upgraded.

Out of them all though i'd say the Dragunov was my favorite.

Magnums are insanely overpowered, as usual. The 500 and the Hawk have the same damage per second, as the 500 is frustratingly slow, so the Hawk is my personal favorite. Both kill in 1 shot 95% of monsters, so you clean up a mob of 4 or 5 in half the time with the Hawk.

The shotgun is my second favorite, and you get into the same situation here. They pale in comparision to the Magnums, but they can interupt 4 dogs leaping at you at the same time. The M3 has higher dmg, but the Hydra shoots faster, making their damage per second on par. The range on the Hydra is better, and i hate slow weapons so i mowed through profesional with this and the Hawk.

My 3rd pick would be the m93 handgun. With the 3 round burst this gun dishes out a decent 1200 dmg per burst (3x400), roughly 1 second. You can hold the trigger down and chain bursts, making the gun fire at the same rate as a machine gun, but with 400 dmg per bullet, 100 times more precise and with no recoil, making a mockery of the AK-74 or the MP5.

Both the Hydra and the M93r are unlockables thus harder to get, you wont have access to them in your first playthrough. The Hack can be found in game but magnum bullets are rare, so keep em for bosses.
