I don't know. In retrospect I think I may have got most out of 1. Of course once I had finished with 1, then it was more rewarding to play 2 than to play 1 again, and the same for 3. So I am glad they made all three and I would say I got most out of the single player of 1 and the multiplayer of 3.
halo 1 is insane single player, halo3 is insane multiplayer, halo 2 has a little bit of both, but id say i like halo3 the best because multi is my favourite aspect of halo and it has better graphics, thought they are all really good!
Halo 3 has amazing features like forge but Halo 1 had great single player. I would say Halo 3 because I still play that game a lot. Halo 2 just had too much of a cliffhanger. Halo 3's multplayer is amazing!
I like all3...but what I really liked from halo 1's single player is that there are no "useless" weapons. Every weapon was effective with a certain enemy and had a weakness toward others. Assault rifle>flood, covenant>assault rifle, needler>elite, jackel>needler, etc... i was a bit dissappointed when they didn't carry that formual to the next sequals, but the online multiplayer makes up for it...
I must say halo 2, because of the multiplayer. it had me staring at the tv-screen for hours! Halo 1 had best single player but if that game would have been able to use xbox live it would have been the best game ever!
Halo 1 definitely exceeded all expectations with its amazing gameplay, but i think if you look past expectations at the games for purely what they are, I'd have to go with Halo 3. Great single player, awesome co op, great multiplayer, and forge make it the best.
I enjoyed the 3rd one the most because I felt like they kept continuing to build upon an already great game. I especially loved it because of it's better graphics, nice solid controls, nice gameplay, forge (very nice addition), theater, and of course online play. The online play has only gotten better since the second.
i reckon the 3rd was the best most epic. my favorite part of all the halo series was the part when you first take down a scarab in halo 3, because right before that you ride in on a mongoose with several others and a guy shootin rockets at ghosts and choppers and then the scarab comes and you jump on it and blow it up and all the while the big forerunner thing is in the background with a bunch of covenant ships. and the explosion was just so epic! man i love that part
I've played over 1000 hours of Halo 2, probably halfway there with Halo 3. Didn't play much multiplayer with Halo:CE but the singleplayer was so awesome.
I'll say Halo 2 for the sheer amount of my time spent on it.
i love the single player in halo 1, and the multiplayer was astounding (i bought the PC version, so it was alot of fun playin it online) so i find it the best
I think I was most impressed with the first one. Especially once I played it on xboxconnect. But 2 got my most play time online. Still play it today sometimes.
I think Halo: CE was the best one of the series. At the time it was released, it was a huge success and the foundation way layed for the future Halo installments. There wasn't a FPS out that could touch Halo: CE when it was available on the XBox back in November 2001. I'll always remember the first Halo game. The local multiplayer was also very fun to play.
The Other 2 Halo games were both superb but I think Halo: CE was the best out of the three.
Halo 2 the multiplayer was the best of the 3. Don't give me this crap that the third is the best in my opinion it was the worst even #1 was better and it was split-screen.

The best memories are from the first one so I guess that's my favourite. Halo 3's multiplayer is only better because it's so variable and different every time. Calling it just a FPS is an understatement.
Im going with 1. Liked the maps better and the simplicity of the weapon balance. Also i liked HEALTH packs. Not this regenerating health garbage.
That and the most important aspect of any first person shooter. The sights were IN THE CENTER. my GOD how that irritated m in 2 and 3. I actually stopped playin number 2 because of it. 3 i stuck around because some of the neater gear and maps but it still...ugh.... im good thanks.. im gonna go play my cod 4 and rainbow six vegas 2 now.
Definitely the original. 2 was alright, the campaign paled in comparison to the original but the multiplayer WAS pretty fun. 3 was pretty garbage.
I DO find it interesting how varied all the responses have been though, it seems none of the 3 are clearly preferred over the 2.

Well, alot of the people who liked 2 the most didn't play Halo Combat Evolved's multiplayer(no online support) and a fair amount of people's first Halo was 2(it did out sell the original by 3 million units after all). Im pretty thats the only reason Halo 2 is anyone's favorite.
