I personally don't like the achievements that are so easy to obtain that you realize the developers were being uncreative... for example: "Achievment Unlocked: started the game" ....lol

collect em all overall probs simply because of the time it takes and how tedious and boring it is. but a close second are online achievements were boosting seems to be the only legit way of getting them :P (theres some irony for ya)

Online achievements, and Fallout 3's good, bad, neutral Karma achievements, do they really want me to play the whole game again. Is there a way to cheat

Get X kills with weapon Y in game mode Z online Some are made so unlikely to happen randomly that they force people to boost to get it, and players boosting can spoil the online for the others in the match that just want to play normally.

The achievements I absolutely hate are non-stackable achievements (like in previous Guitar Hero games and the collectibles achievements in Fallout 3), unrewarding achievements (achievements that don't give you sufficient benefits in the game and/or Gamerscore), and most online achievements (Seriously ..., Seriously 2.0, etc.). Collectibles achievements, or any achievements where you have to find/interact with a certain number of things, can be a pain, but I don't mind them all that much; I will complete them if I really like the game. Like in Fallout 3, I got all of the Vault-Tech bobbleheads and weapon schematics because not only do they give you an adequate amount of Gamerscore, but they're actually beneficial in the game. GTA IV's birds and stunt jumps weren't really beneficial to the game, but I did all of them because I love the franchise so much. Same with Gears and the COG tags/collectibles in Gears 1 and 2 respectively; I liked the game so I did them. But most importantly and overall, if getting an achievement involves the failure to abide by the reason video games are played - to have fun and entertain yourself - then I won't bother getting them. I may do it if they're really easy to get, but that's very rare for me (I used to be the kind of person who would play games like Avatar just for more Gamerscore, but not anymore).

I don't mind finding x amount of items or things where after you are finished you feel like you actually accomplished something. The only type of achievement that I really hate are the ones where if you don't buy the game as soon as it comes out, there is no way to get it without boosting. Because I can't buy most games as soon as they come out, and by the time I can buy it at a discounted price, the online community has moved on to a new game so I can't get the multiplayer achievements, and especially the "Reach the top of the leaderboards" ones.

First most annoying would have to be the leaderboard related achievements, but achievements requiring multiple play-throughs are a close second.

Collection achievements can be pretty ridiculous. Most people don't have time to wander around for hours killing pigeons, then get a wanted level every time you do so.

I don't hate any achievement, they give me reason to go back and play a game i beat already(GTA IV, Halo 3) or show off my skills in certain games(Street fighter II Hf, & Street Fighter II HD Remix)....

I can say I don't like the 0G achievements... unless they give you something special, why would you make someone try to get that...

Some collection ones I don't mind, like when they actually affect something in the game and it doesn't distract from the main experience. For example, I didn't mind the collect the diamonds achievement in Far Cry 2, but I just said screw it to the agility orb one in Crackdown and the flags one in Assassin's Creed. I didn't like the birds one in Condemned either, as I felt it broke up the atmosphere too much.

A lot of online ones are pains in the butt too

so examples of achievements i hate is

Halo 3: Two for One - Kill 2 ppl with a single spartan laser shot in ranked free-for-all playlist, it'll be easier if it's on team matches because few members of the other team would stick close to eachother.

GTA IV: Endangered Species - kill all 200 pigeons, just so boring and get 1 wanted star with every pigeon killed, and i once killed 199 pigeons and i can't find the last one, i had to start the whole game again.

I am not a particular fan of collection achievements, the birds in GTA, the flags in Assassins Creed - I mean - who can be bothered. I am also not a huge fan of online achievements either because you just get boosting. Halo 3 was dreadful for that, and when you do get them by pure luck they are only a small amount like 5g or something.... :(

Same here. Collecting achievements take no skill whatsoever, just time. You might as well make the achievement "Spend 100 hours in single-player."

I really hate straying from the single player game to find stupid stuff thats hidden in dark places. But what I can't stand even more is when I get a game and the majority of the achievements on it are Multi-Player and no one plays it anymore so those achievement are going to remain locked forever.

Not entirely true. Fifa 09 has secret acheivements and there is no plot there. I hate the collecting pointless stuff ones, and ones that make you feel like you need to rush through the game e.g. On GTA IV - Where you have to complete the story in 30 hours. I want to do other stuff away from the story, surely thats the beauty of GTA so why make us rush through it to get an achievement.

The ones I hate the most are the ones that aren't hard but just very very time consuming.
