I think there all good but My favorite is CoD 4. Im acualy playing through the campaighn on vetern. I never do that. Cod 4 Is a good one to start off with
i played cod1 2 3 4. i didn't like the 1-3's that much but that cod4 is the best game i have played near halo and i'm big halo fan i been playing halo since 2002 and still play pretty much every day or 2 and cod4 has only game that could pull me away from halo to play it.. get cod4 i sure u wont regret or just wait for cod6~~mw2

Well I do like Cod 4 a lot more and I have to admit online for cod 2 bigred 1(ps2) was realy good. CoD 3 had a few Problems that were never fixed like the dumbest AI team Ive ever seen.

I guess that IW really makes the difference in cod, the games are better.
The best call of duty game at the moment is call of duty 4 Modern warfare. its the only cod game with a plot, and a brilliant plot it is. the graphics are so amazing that it creates a world of suspense that adds to the drama of the game. Where as all of the ww2 cod games have no story at all, just push into berlin WOW!! really inspiring.
I hate threads like this becasue WAW gets a bad rep because it is a "knock off/stolen version/etc/etc" and because it is WW2. You can't go wrong either way. WAW has a more vibrant online community and a more balanced level of skills, but you have to acklowedge that it is not modern it is based in WW2 and their is no MP44 :)
If you don't play online, I thought COD4 campaign was more exciting and it drew me in more, but like WAW it was very short...
CoD 2 was pretty awesome, but Modern Warfare far outshines it - that much is certain. World at War wasn't too bad as far as the campaign goes, but it's real fun is in the nazi zombies mode (or japanese zombies, if you get the new maps). All in all, you can't go wrong with any of the series, but if you want the best of the bunch, go with Modern Warfare. You might want to wait for the sequel they're coming out with for that one, however, because it looks like they may do even better.
I'd have to say the fourth. It's more fun and has better weapons and maps to play on. But mw has a better plot and way of playing and pwns with online.
