I am just wondering. I jsut think we hear more about the peolple who do have problems with their cause its something to report. I beleave that there are alot more people out there xboxs that run fine and have had no problems. Let me know.......
i haven't had any problems with my xbox360 the microsoft gremlins watch my[well everybody's]xbox360 and they no i treat mines with love they only get peoples 360's when the owner doesn't take proper care of it and dosn't use it.
I got mine the second they became available at launch at 12:00 am and it's still running just like the day I got it...perhaps even better then the day I got it thanks to updates and such.
Besides as i was moving .... i set it up at the floor, because i didnt have chairs and couch yet ... so at night i kicked it through the half room while falling over it... crashed my Sennheiser 595 :( But the Box was alright. I think theyr build damn solid. As long as you dont get one of those "unlucky" boxes.
Besides freezing every once in a blue moon in R6V, mine is still running strong since July of 2006. I bought a two year extended warranty just in case though.
I've never had any problems, which is pretty funny since my room tends to get quite warm (knock on wood). One time, though, I actually got the red ring of death. I have no idea how. I just turned my 360 on, and instead of a gorgeous luminescent green, I saw blood red. It both scared the crap out of me and pissed me off, because I'd read somany horror stories about that f'ing red ring, not to mention I had a day off that day and wanted to chill and play. So I simply turned it off, turned it back on after only a couple seconds, and voila: it was green and working perfectly. No red in sight. It's never been nothing but green since. No idea what happened there, and I'm not really sure I wanna know. Anything like that happen to anyone else?
I am on my 3rd xbox 360. The first 2 dies from rings of death.
And if my next one wants to do the same, it better do it before the 12 month warrantee since i got it runs out because if it does, i can just exchange it absolutely free as i did with the first 2.

I wonder if there's more or less of a chance of the 360 malfunctioning depending on whether you have it standing upright or horizontal. I have it standing upright, for the record. Looks sexier and it seems like it ventilates more easily if it's upright.

I have mines flat and i got it since 2005 and neverhad an issue. This is the internet anyone can say they had a problem. Doesn't mean all of them are true.

The back used to get super nova hot before I got it. I used to only play a few hours because of that before i got the cooling system.
Mine was good for about the first year, now it's really goofy. Sometimes I lost connection with my controllers, the loud blowing sound turns on and off and it occasionally freezes. I know it won't last too much longer.
Im on my second console, my first lasted from 2005-2007 so i think that is a good life span for my first. I would still have it but it was murdered by the red lights. Other than that i have had no trouble. FTW!
None and I probably won't have any problems because I dont play 360 24/7. The ones that do break are most likely because people play all day, and then not giving the 360 a break to cool down. Go outside!
