As far as what I've read around the net, some stores report that they will be getting their first SHIPMENT on 2/23/09 and some other sotres report the game RELEASE on 2/24/09. So I'm just going to assume that most stores are going to wait a day after arrival to stock the shelves and whatnot. Though I love the Star Ocean series too much to wait patiently so I'm going to be calling a few locations near me today just to see what their plans are. *crosses figners* I REALLY can't wait to get my hands on this game!! hehe Just as a side note, Best Buy.com says their release date is on 2/25/09 soif you're looking to get this ASAP I wouldn't recommend going there :(
I kinda want it, but I don't have any money. It's hard for me to pass up on any JRPG, so I'll most likely get it even though I've only played part of the 3rd one.
Nothing wrong with that :-) Especially since The Last Hope is really the beginning of the series you could always play Till the End of Time after you finish this one. It'll be like start to finish hehe
It comes out tomorrow. Go watch the IGN review...the game sounds awesome. Although 30-45 minute cutscenes scare me a litlte bit. They said the RPG mechanics are perfect though, and the combat never gets old.

i hope they are exagerating with trhe cutscene thing. what could they possibly do for 30 min.
Wow, I just watched the video review. Makes me want to go siege the nearest gamestop for a copy. I can't wait another 23 hours and 30 min! As for the 30-45 min cutscenes... is there a way to TiVo that? lol I mean it would be ok if they had the option to pause in the middle but 30 min is way too long without being able to stop. I really love the Star Ocean storylines, I'd be too scared of missing something cool or exciting if I walked away from a cutscene.
My nephew is getting it tomorrow and I am borrowing his 360 just to play it! (I have a PS3). I loved 'Til the End of Time and I am stoked about TLH. I even just bought the two PSP remakes just to round out the story.
Just curious about people's opinions on this, Strategy Guide. The only guides i've ever bought were for games like Tekken and Virtua Fighter and other fighting games obviously because of the complete list of moves for every character. What do the strategy guides for RPG games offer other than telling you exactly how to beat the game? (which is think is pointless cause why spend money on an rpg if all you're going to do is read a book on how to play) Like, do the guides help at all without revealing too much about what's going to happen? I'm the type of gamer that appreciate little insights like being recommended to play defensively against one type of monster or recommended to attack with caution but I don't like being told what attacks to use or what specific spells to cast, ya know? Yeah this is pretty off the topic of this thread, i just thought i'd toss it out seeing as how a brand new amazing game is about to be released in less than 24 hours.
It all depends on what kind of player you are. If you are a 100% compeltionist, a guide would definitely give you tips on rare items and things like that. For me though, I play through the first time without any help because I don't want to see spoilers. Second time through you can use a guide and find whatever you missed. Also you don't really have to buy them, there are tons of free guides on the internet these days. IGN.com has great guides for just about every game. By the time you finish your first playthrough their guide should be finished.

Sadly not yet. East coasters apparently get it today but west coasters have to wait the extra day (24th). So unfair! There's a player review by someone who has it on this site I just read it if your'e looking for peoples opinions on it. Can't wait!!!!

WOO HOO!! I got my copy today and i LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!! hehe The graphics are gorgeous and i'm already attached to the characters. The battle system is a lot of fun. The new features are AWESOME!!! A definite MUST GET for all Star Ocean fans!!
im about 3 hours in, here are some short impressions (no spoilers): The majority of the first hour of the game consists mostly of cutscenes, but you do get a taste of combat in the battle simulator, and its really fun even though its pretty basic at this point. Pulling off a blindside is really satisfying, and the enemy AI is pretty smart. Graphically the game looks great. The interior of the Calnus looks average, but once the departure kicks off and you arrive at the very first location, you really are taken aback by the scale of the detailed environments and the lighting effects. Voice acting is pretty decent, but one of the characters you meet in the beggining just sounds really annoying. Dialogue is good, its typical sci fi writing with a few twists here and there. The battle theme is really catchy, and overall the music score fits very well with the space theme. Cant really say much about the story at this point, but its setting itself up pretty well to keep the player interested on what happens next. So far i think its a great game, and im looking forward to playing more.
Well.... So far (after 1st boss), I'll say that I really like this game. The graphics are possibly the best I've seen for some time now, even in 720p. Can't say too much else, but the only complaints I have so far are: -Edge's voice could be better -Control sensitivity issues on the field, especially in places like the Calnus -I can barely hear the battle voices even at max vol. setting. -Shortage of healing items (I died twice because of this on the first boss)
well i went to eb games today only to find out that it has not released yet, the guy did not know anything about it so he checked on the computer "coming soon games" and it wasnt there.so im really confused whether if this game is coming out in australia? i would be so devostated if it doesnt :(
