Don't hate it. Just have no interest in playing it to be honest. Looks great but really the actual content of the game just leaves me with this "blah" feeling. I enjoyed the GTA 3 series of games but really as GTA4 got closer to release my interest just dropped to nothing. Like I said, not a bad game. I'm sure it's as great as everyone says it is just have no interest in playing it. Which is a shame since I want to play a new game and can't decideon what to buy.
Same happen with me and Bioshock. Played the demo but just didn't work for me even though it seemed great.
I tottally disagree but to the dude above me... planes ruined Vice City and San Andreas(also sa storyline) they were so awckwrd to fly and if you just cant get the damn thing right you have to quit playing and never see the ending cause of the damn horrible plane controlls. Helicopters controll great on the other hand.draftroughI didnt mind the planes, but I didnt use them unless I had to. I loved Vice City though.
thats y im not even going to play it. my friends say its exactly the same as the other gta's but better graphics. so i agreed with socomgta3. The game is a rent only.brad52Make it several rents. No way in Hell you'll beat it in 1 rent, unless you have no life and play it non stop.
Look, this game is like GTAIII series with the same type of missions and some additions put in to wow people as well as fixing everything noone liked. Does this mean it's undeserving of a 10? No, I think that was a perfect idea from Rockstar. The real difference in the "feeling" of GTAIV is the graphics. Because it's so realistic, it is more like a movie while the GTAIII series were like violent cartoons or comic books. GTAIV is just so believable that it has a feel on its own, there is no real difference with it and the other games, just that.
It makes no sense changing something that actually works.Matt-4542
Yep, a lot of improvements + another killer story line = guaranteed hit.:D
also i don't know way but is it me or are all of the reviewer people like paid by Rockstar to give this game like a perfect score way i say this is because like take another game like darksector what ever and say it lags a bit and the online is not so great and what ever else could be the problem plus i got nothing against darksector i loved it it was a super good game but what ever it got what like a 7.8 and gta whit all of this problem's it gets a 10 there is something wrong it should of got like a 9.0 because of the problem's
socomgta3
Waoo, punctuation please?:P
Have you played the whole game? And what exactly are the problems?
What it still comes down to is that a review is an Opinion, and obviously the people who have played a lot of games are agreeing that it's one awesome game.
ya that's true but i don't know if you played the others like i did i played them crazy man like every min of my life but know i got it from game fly and its like wow same stuff is different like the setting and some stuff improved i feel as i am playing the same thing over and over again like get all the hidden packages drive this guy there pick this hooker up bla bla and so on do u get me this kind of stuff gets repetitive after some time lets say in 2 years they make gta samsung or what ever whats going to be the same concept different setting and different story that's it socomgta3
if u say that GTA 4 is just like the other GTAs then wouldnt you go crazy for it? if you didnt get tired of doing the same thing over and over again for every min of you life, like you said, then it should be like picking up where you left off so to speak.
Who the Hell cares. It makes no sense changing something that actually works. If you think this is the same as the previous 5 GTA's, then why did you play past the second one... Yes, I know the first 2 were overhead but its still the same thing, isnt it? Theres no difference between any of them aside from story and graphics and location. So why bother? Hell, thats like saying Condemned was awesome but Condemned 2 sucked. Awe, C2 sucked because all you do is hit people in the head with pipes while trying to find out what the hell is going on. Same thing in C1 right? Right! Any sequel is the same as the first, aside from a few changes. If youre going to complain about GTA4 being the same as the previous, then go ahead and complain about every other sequel.Matt-4542
I'm prety sure you already said that, only you made it shorter the first time.
The story mode makes me come back for more, but when i do free roam it gets boring, need more weapons. DLC give me more weapons to play with and aircrafts :DShas02
since GTA3 rockstar have hit on a winning formula that sells incredibly well. there is no logical reason for them to stray significantly from that formula - if it aint broke, dont fix it.
i cant comment on the bugs etc because i dont yet own the game. but honestly i think some of the problems reported are exaggerated by people who dont care for GTAIV - it cant be that buggy and get consistently excellent scores
and i know there are slightly questionable dealings in the game industry sometimes, with review scores possibly being affected by advertising money etc, but honestly check out metacritic - 99/100 from 36 reviews. that is an incredible average. and you're not telling me rockstar bought off all those sites.
im sure this thread will get locked...........
but yeah I dont hate GTA IV. the story, the voices, the music, it takes me back to GTAIII. Thats why they did the roman numerals again. VC and SA were just fillers. GTA III and IV are the best games rockstar has made. not everyone will like the game, but I love it so far.
I could never hate GTA 4 like I hate Halo, so there's that out of the way. There's too many great things to do in GTA so even if I get bored. Last night I played it for the first time, and blew up a Petrol station with me standing next to the pumps to see how far I could fling myself- GTA is going to be filled with silly wee makeshift minigames like that, trust me- people will find new uses for the game long after it becomes boring.
If I could give the topic creator some advice, play the game on-line- you may find that more to your liking.
IMO you aren't a real gamer if you don't think GTA4 is good; to go as far as to say you hate it is ridiculous. There's just such an amount of detail in it that has never been in a video game before it deserves praise.
But that's coming from someone who got bored fast with SA, and didn't play the other GTAs "everyday of my life" So i am really able to appreciate GTA4
So... although I can understand how GTA SA was popular too... I got bored of it in about 10 hours of playtime.
Does anyone think GTA4 is much better to the point that it will keep my interest for longer than that?
or... is it just the same old thing?.... I don't want to buy this game and get bored of it so soon.
The game is not the 'same old thing.'
It may look and feel similar, but there are tonnes more things to do, play, see, laugh at and generally have fun with. It's frankly the most important game of the year so far.
ive never played it so i cant say i hate it, but...it doesnt appeal to me...the subject matter just puts me off i guess, going around killing cops or running down innocent bystanders never been a drawing feature in a game to me, now if it was just running around getting rid of "bad guys" punisher style then maybe hahahateaabags
There is so much more to GTA4 than just killing cops and running down bystanders. In this game you really should avoid that kind of behavior if you want to get through the story. This game is awsome, if you have not played it, you should refrain from commenting on it.
I honestly do not understand why you bought the game, there is so much coverage that you really have the chance to know what you are getting in to before you spend $60.
Obviously it is still GTA that is why it is called GTA but if you say the only difference is graphics you either never plaied GTA or you do not remember it much.
I know i do not enjoy Final Fantasy, i tried , i understand why people would enjoy it, i recognize it is a good rpg but it just doesn't appeal to me.
If FF XII gets released and it is a great game i might or might not try it but sure as hell i won;t be complaying after i buy it cause it is FF because they say so on the box.
Sorry you are not enjoying yourself i am and i also feel very excited of being a gamer now that this incredible master piece got released.

I respect your opinion even though i am sorry you are losing such an incredible video gaming experience cause GTA IV is really not only that, actually i never out of a mission shoot at a cop up to now cause i would feel "out of character , so to speak.
But there is shooting at cops during some mission even though ...well you should play the game.
It goes withouth saying that this is a game, just like a movie. I never touched a real gun in life nor i have a desire too.
Never used violence on any other human being .NEVER but a game is a game and this is an incredible one
Well, in complete honesty, it's all based upon personal preference and opinion. If it's not your type of game, there is no reason to play it. Though I have only played the game for a good... 10 hours, I can see where people's complaints are originating from. I, myself, was a huge fan of the past GTA games (GTA 3 and Vice City, I hated San Andreas). But it wasn't the fact that the games had excellent stories. Hell, GTA3 was a cliche mafioso/gang movie story, and Vice City is the videogame incarnate of Scarface. It was the fact that the games brought something different to the table than other games. They were unique in their own ways. GTA3 brough what was originally a helicopter view game, to a full 3D environment with much potential. For its time, it was groundbreaking. Vice City took what GTA3 had, and added much much more. The new time period and setting was a smart move for Rockstar. Now, we go onto 4.
I do find myself disappointed in some ways with this game. I'm not bashing it, and saying "this game SUCKS, man!". I am just stating my honest opinion. Rockstar put a LOT of effort and paid attention to fine detail in the game, which I give them props for. Yet a lot of the changes really put me down. Though most of the cars look amazing and the damage effects are incredible, they are also a hassle to handle.
Another gripe? The soundtrack. It's nothing short of mediocre, in my opinion. I LOVED the music in Vice City and 3, but now it seems like there is too much rap, and no attention brought towards better music (though that's also a matter of opinion, some people could love the music).
The graphics turn me off as well. It looks like a gritty Driver game. Everything seems to be in shades of gray and brown. Trust me, I am a huge fan of noir style and darkness, but I personally think the game overdoes it. I feel like my t.v. is covered in a film of mud and dust.
With that said, I am able to look past the flaws and make use of the game. I just wish it had more of an effect like Vice City did. I am sure I'll be playing it to the end. But I do think it does not deserve a perfect 10. Maybe the reviewers based the review on the attention to every detail and opportunity in the game, and I think the effort put into the game deserves a 10 in its own way. But the gameplay brings it down for me.
Being a huge GTA fan, I'm on the same boat as the other GTA fans in terms of loving the series (besides San Andreas), but I'm also on the other side with the "haters" on GTA 4. Although I'm not as harsh as they are :P
Still enjoy the game, but I figured I'd throw in my two cents :)
