I believe it is... well, for what i've played so far in the demo. The Germany track is amazing. The Blue car's graphics are amazing. All the cars aren't crazy when turning like in the Forza 2 demo... I'm going to be getting DiRT... are you guys going to get it?
It dosen't look as good as Forza and the fact that it dosen't have splitscreen is a major letdown but i'll definatly rent it, but forza is a 100% buy :)
It looks great and is quite good fun to play if you're not looking for realism.
I guess all games now are true next gen ones. Still, I'm familiar with the Colin McRae series and I'm disappointed that the handling of the cars is still 'floaty'. What I mean is, when you turn on tarmac, the car acts like a hovercraft and the back wheels don't stick to the road because the vehicle seems to pivot from the centre, although not quite the same as previous games.
From the forums, we were told this wasn't going to be the case for this game but it is. A few other problems I can see is that braking is almost instant and the cars barely slide on a loose surface...seriously, wtf? The camera is also too rigid which makes movement look a bit strange. The handling on previous games was much better, imo. Colin McRae was supposed to be inspired by Sega Rally. All I'm going to say is that Sega Rally is VERY fun and handles great! There's nothing like powersliding round the bends in that game.
Oh well, I may still buy it but I'm actually pretty put off by the demo.

honestly. i couldnt find anything at all that hasnt been done hundreds of times before in forza, but im put off by most sims. however i thought dirt was alot of fun, with fascinating damage that affects how you drive, and the in-car view is unlike anything ive ever played, definetly next gen

1st. DiRT will have split screen racing 2. Graphically DiRT is the winner (but Forza 2 beats DiRT into its own mud when it comes to physics) unless you've been playing on some SDTV from the early 80's or something 3rd. I'll see you on the track (on Forza 2) ;)
