haha that made my day - i was about to ask what the hell was going on... gamers like fallout 3 because of it's in depth story, bethesda's uncanny attention to detail, the unique concept of post-apocalyptic america, vast environments to explore, and many other reasons. in addition, fans of Fallout 1 & 2 have been waiting a long time for a sequel, and since Interplay never picked it up, Bethesda eventually did. Personally, Bethesda is one of my favorite developers, second only to Blizzar, so i was very excited when i heard of this. I loved Oblivion, and this game's similarities to ESIV are undenyable.

in short, if you liked Oblivion, chances are you'll like this game. It's basically the epotime of RPGs - all the freedom you could want, yet still keeping that sense that you actually have an impact on the world around you (which is a pretty popular thing these days; Fable 2, WoW:WotLK,etc.)

Though i agree Mass effect was more enjoyable but the exploration in that game sucked unlike in Fallout 3. I thought the combat was pretty fun and the story was alright but it's the atmosphere and just sheer size of the world that made it awesome.

I tried so hard to get into Mass Effect but for some reason I just couldn't. I'm not a huge RPG fan, but I do like some of them... I had Mass Effect for a couple months from Gamefly... twice. But I'd play it for a bit and just get bored with it.

Fallout 3, on the other hand, I loved. I've got 60 hours logged on the game and I'm still not really bored with it. Tons of stuff to explore and collect, plenty of side quests, great fighting... just an all around awesome game. For me Fallout 3 is GOTY.

My opinion is that fallout 3 was horrible. They should stick to the Elder Scrolls that is my favorite game and it gave a better story, a better ending, and a better feel all around.

Bioware's so far has not had a bad game. i have played kotor and jade empire and of course mass effect. It had a great story and a good controls but the only bad thing i can say about it is there should be more to the planets that r explored.

You also forgot bethesda's uncanny tendency to let outstanding glitches go by. Same glitch elder scrolls series happens to be in Fallout as well.

i love fallout 3

i think its not as good as oblivion but i rate it more than mass effect, theres morfe exploring and things to do on it than mass effect

I think that Mass Effect is more fun than Fallout3.

But this games are hardly called RPG anyways...

Personally I bought Oblivion, Mass Effect, and Fallout 3 right when they came out, which is a rarity for me.
After a month i traded in Oblivion, it lacked the effect of being able to pull me in and feel like an engaging experience.
Mass Effect was a game that I had differing experiences with. When I first bought it I played it for two hours then stopped playing. I then picked it up again a year later and LOVED it.
Lastly i've played fallout 3 and i love it, blowing stuff to hell and getting xp for it is a blast. The extreme amounts of gore and violence doesn't hurt either.

I find people joking about ones english skills more childish, immature and stupid than any other thing in the world. And honestly, I laughed at the people who joked about the thread starters english - they're just too full of themselves and really ridiculous with that kind of SO FUNNY (not) jokes.

coming from someone who's played both games, id have to say ME, only because Fallout 3's combat for me is horrible, sure ME isnt perfect but i find it alot better than Fallout 3. i enjoyed Oblivion and even Morrowind quite a bit but not Fallout 3, i think they should just stick to the middleage(?) fantasy type of games

I love fallout 3 and hated mass effect.

I enjoyed Mass Effect and Fallout 3 the same. Both were good games IMO.
