With the release of Halo 3 coming up and all the chatter about midnight releases for the game, i can't help but remember the crap i went throught to pick up my preordered copy of Halo 2 back in 2004. I got off work at 1130 so i figured i could go to the EB games near my house, wait for a half hour or so, pick up my copy and go home and play. Turns out i waited outside in 30-40 degree weather for almost 2 hours. The non-preorder line moved twice as fast as the preorder line, and there was nobody interesting to talk to. i'm not being snobby by saying that either. these people were the most annoying people you could ever dream of being stuck in line next to. so finally i get my hands on my copy, drive home, walk in the house, put the game on the coffee table, and walk away and go to bed. i was so fed up with the crap of enduring a wait in line to buy a game that i didn't even care to play the game that night. The next morning when i finally fired the game up, i promised myself that i'd never wait in line at midnight to buy anything ever again. This time, i've preordered but i'll pick it up the next day. I'd love to hear any other stories others have...topic.

one question for you were do you live? becasue when i picked up my copy there were no lines for the midnight reales and i live in Seattle
Funny, I got there in 2004 at like 11:15. The line was already long as hell. Make a long story short 25 mins later like 4 dudes walk up and try to work their way to the front of the line. Lets just say a scuffle ensued and I moved up 17 places in less than 30 secs... :lol:
i live in Columbus, OH. It was ridiculous how many people were there, it was at least 200 people. I'm thinking i might try to go to Wal-Mart on the way home from work thought. i didn't think of that. it'll probably come down to how i feel that day.
I waited out in the cold for over 2 hours. It was great because I rarely get a chance to just talk about games with like minded people for a couple hours. I will wait for Halo 3 also.
yeah i live near houston texas, and i went to the midnight release but from what i remember it wasnt really that bad at all. i probly was there like 15 minutes or so. this year im goin to the same place at midnight but one of the guys that works there says there r over 140 preorders, so this year probly wont be that easy.
The only thing I've done that's remotely similar to is going to Fry's at 8:00 am to get Bioshock on release date. I might go get Halo 3 at midnight, though...we'll see.
me and my friend went at midnight to ebgames only about 40 or so people were their was in and out in about 30 mins.....played halo2 for about 3 days non stop.... i figure im gonna be playing halo 3 for atleast a week.
My buddy and i got to a gamestop about 30 minutes before the store opened. When we got there we were roughly the 20th or so people to get there. He has it reserved but i did not. When the store opened they had us get into two seperate lines: one for reserves and one for hopefulls. I was the first person in the hopefull so i ended up being the second person to get a copy. I think everyone learned with the Halo2 release is that most places got enough copies to deal with most demands.
i still dont understand why people would do that the night before there was this long line in front of the store the next day i walked right pass them as they looked on in in anger picked up my pre ordered copy and walked away. i swear someone was going to try and rob me for it all you have to do is pre order it. Oh and the worst part was that there was a thunderstorm and alot of people were outside
I did. I went at like 10 and Im glad I did, cuz the line probably ended up being like 70 people long or more stretching down the shopping center that EBGames is in. I'll be doing it again for Halo 3. Hell, at least it wont be as cold as the Halo 2 launch, or cold and raining its ass off like it did for the 360 launch. Well, it could rain but Im trying not to jinx it. Anyone have to wait in bad weather?
My fraternity brother, one of the only ones with an xbox, wanted to get it at midnight since everybody is always up that late anyway. He stood in line for an hour while me and a few others sat in the car and hotboxed it.
