I was going to get it, but I'm having doubts now. I think Ghost Recon might be more worth my cash in the long run. Just seems like it'd get boring fast, and the last Rockstar game which wasn't open sandbox that I played was Red Dead Revolver and that was worse than taking a fork in the eye.
I was about to make an insulting remark, then I realized you said "Revolver", not "Redemption" lol.I was going to get it, but I'm having doubts now. I wouldn't dare insult such a marvellous game:P
If it had more in common with it's predeccessor I'd call it the turn around of the century.

Rockstar actually has made good linear games, Manhunt being one I count as a very fun stealth title. Unfortunately Manhunt 2 and Red Dead Revolver aren't giving them a great linear track record, but to be fair Revolver was actually just finished by Rockstar, not entirely made by them.
You guys didn't like Red Dead Revolver?!
Anyways, I just beat Max Payne 3 a couple of hours ago. No spoilers, but I will say the game seems to get a lot harder towards the end, and the last 2 missions felt like I was taking on a whole damn army (which was the point I gather). This resulted in me having to stay behind cover a lot longer and not being able to run out in the open much, which I was able to do for the first 2/3 of the game sometimes. The story also got very confusing for me (I had a hard time keeping track of the constantly changing plot and new tidbits of information).
That being said, the singleplayer was overall a pretty fun game. The shooting in this game is very satisfying, with the awesome kill cams, the huge amount of blood, and the realistic bullet holes. The story, albeit getting confusing, was solid and the writing was pretty damn good. As you can tell, I had a hard time stopping myself from beating the missions, hence me already having beaten the game. It's not the longest singleplayer either, which is disappointing as a Rockstar game but understandable in that is is one of their more linear and non open-world titles.
This game feels like an interactive movie half the time too. This is good, in that it's an experience you usually don't get with most videogames, but at the same time it makes it feel like you are only participating in some of the events. The cutscene to gameplay transition is done pretty well, as you seamlessly start shooting up bad guys only seconds after the cutscene is over. It just seems like for every room full of enemies you kill, there's a cutscene afterwards.
The multiplayer, suprisingly, is actually very fun. There is a lot more customization than I thought there would be, and many incentives to level up. There are new apparel, weapons, attachments, perks, titles, characters, and weapon upgrades that you can unlock. There are several game modes, and Gang Wars is by far the most fun out of all of them. It is one of the most inventive multiplayer modes I've ever come across in a game, and I give kudos to Rockstar for having it in this game. The gameplay, while often clunky like the singleplayer, works well enough. You can use bullet time, but there are limits to it, so it doesn't feel overpowered. They do need to fix the hit detection and lag problems though, as I often find myself continuously shooting at someone, only for their health to magically stop going down or something like that. There should have been more maps, as there are only 6 as of now that I counted. I would rather not have to buy DLC just to get more maps to play on, but I think that's what it's going to come down to. I'm also hoping that the population doesn't thin out in the coming months, but the amount of people in the playlists as of now isn't that high.
