There's the "I want to be different" thing... most people like halo, and then other people say they don't just to be different.
And there's of course the real oppinion factor. I really like both games. But I like Halo 3 a biiiit better. I say halo is much better to play with friends, and cod4 when you are alone.
Single player wise... Halo has a longer campaign. And something that is a pro and a con at the same time: halo is simple, almost a pick up and play game, just needs practice. And COD4 is quite deeper, but you can kill and die so fast, that sometimes is more luck then skill :P (skill does play a huge part, not as huge as in halo though).
There are only 2 things that I don't like about halo. 1-> the enemies in campaign. 2-> the weapons' damage... it should be a bit stronger...
some people dont like it because its not like halo 2. but imo, its better than halo 2. halo 2s sword was so horribly unbalanced. and its emphasis on dual wielding meant that you were pretty much screwed if you didnt spawn next to another weapon in ffa and small maps. and imo in halo 3 the maps are designed to keep action flowing. in cod 4 and halo 2 i would usually find myself just running around the map aimlessly. sometimes 3 whole minutes would pass with out me seeing anyone else. the only things i hate about halo 3 are the gimped shotgun and the "shield doors" on maps like snowbound and epitaph that enforced camping. also the ranking system is pretty frustrating, if you lose by even one point in team slayer, its like you completely wasted your time.
It's not random that it is talked poorly about. It has simply become old hat.The jump from Halo 2 to Halo 3 was not that big of an improvement. Not that it needs a lot to improve or could improve with out changing what Halo is.Also Halo caters to a younger crowd who are just getting there first taste of FPS multiplayer.I'm 31 so I was play'n FPS online when it was Quake rules and Unreal sucks. Then it was Half Life rules and quake sucks.Call of Duty 4 is a completely different game and right now it's the "new cool thing".I only play gears witch has more multiplayer glitches than any of them but I like the team based modes, blood and guts and the lack of the Halo trampoline jumping. However I would not say Halo 3 sucks. That would be an ignorant statement. It's just not my thing. At the end of the day you know that it is a fun game for you and millions of others so just let them live in there COD4 Fanboy world.Cause that's ok too.
Playing these games is like being in highschool all over again. You have your clicks and they all make fun of each other to make themselves think they are cooler. No one is cooler. They just like different things. So relax and play what you want.
It seems every time I bring up Halo in CoD4 or R6, people start telling me how much it sucks.. one person said "it was too make belief" (uhh ur playing video games). I honestly don't think Halo 3 is a bad game. People just hate it because they play CoD now, once they leave Halo for 3 days they start hating it. I honestly am getting very tired with the people on CoD 4 anyways, their all idiots. Can someone please enlighten me on why Halo is so randomly a bad series now?Lawnboi
This is why Halo3 wasn't a bad game i think the best of the three but trend gamers go from game to game with no loyalty to the games that they loved till they beat it. I've seen so many i hate halo i hate gears of war and so one that its crazy then they compare games that happened years ago and compare them to recent ones like they should have made it like this game. I'm not one of those fools i understand the value of each game and if its good then its always good of course someones going to make a better one but thats what suppose to happen you make better games each year so don't pay them any attention they don't know what a real gamer is all about
Halo 3 played just like halo 1 and 2 (which isnt a totally bad thing) but in my opinion the story got a little ehhh and with the same gameplay mechanics things just got a little stale. I have also been a huge fan of the COD series and have been playing since the first(PC). COD brought a new breath of fresh air to the series, modernism which i think probably contributed a lot to its success ...probably didnt accomplish anything with this post so...babble babble babble babble Boob.Thanks.Trick933
Naw, you brought up some excellent points on what has happened to the series. I guess you really can't blame Bungie for catering to the fans of the series in Halo 3. I my friends have been trying to get me play COD 4 game, but am not sure I'll like the world war shooter or not:?
I think people are tired of hearing "Halo is the best", granted it is a very good solid game. But I don't think it is the best. But a lot of great things can be said about it. Thunderlipagreed,it's not the best, but the Halo series is still a major accomplishment for videogames, just think of where the XBOX would be without Halo at launch
people are also too radical... if they find one game better then the other, they start saying the HATE the other, and the first one is perfect and stuff.
like someone said above me i think it really is the whole "i wanna be different thing." its pretty sad if you ask me. i mean some ppl just dont like the game but i think the majority of the ppl just wanna be different and say the game is bad. just like gta4. after that got a 10 on like 50 sites u see those ppl saying its avg and the scores were wrong. i bet theyd think differently if the game got a 9.5-9.9nahmean187
people are also too radical... if they find one game better then the other, they start saying the HATE the other, and the first one is perfect and stuff... I care little about what people say, that's why I read a bunch of reviews before buying a game, so that I can have a general idea of it. Even if the game doesn't have great ratings, but does the things I like, I'm happy with it.
And I don't wanna sound different, but GTA4 doesn't attract me much. A bunch of websites gave it a 10, I played all GTA games but this one, and none of them really pleased me. I can't say it sucks because it got a bunch of 10 for gawd sakes! But I can say that it doesn't interest me, it's gameplay doesn't fit me =)
I love halo 3 =) but it could be way better =p (playing legendary alone is frustrating, and annoying >_>)

Bungie has royalled **** Halo 2 with its auto aim and magnetism. All of this crap when Halo Combat Evolved was a system link master piece. Then comes Halo 3, and what a pile of **** that was, with an ongoing casual appeal ruining my experience, just as Bungie's own incompetence at spoon feeding its own illegetimate fanbase goes.

I agree with these. I think immature gamers believe they will come off as avante-garde by declaring "X super popular game sucks!" They're wrong. This doesn't make them look cutting edge; it makes them look like ill-informed jerks.

Well said. There are a lot of people out there who can't imagine the possiblity that two popular games are both good. It's like you say, the most recent game purchased is the best every, while the second most recent game must be hated. I don't understand why some people can't comprehend the possiblity that more than one game can be good at any given time.
Moving on to something I don't agree with:
*find group of enemies, grenade in, gun down the rest, move on... all to the same boring drone of drum beats*
sonic0491
I think that describes most shooters. If I were to read your post outside of this thread, there's no way I would know you were talking about Halo. I might not even know you were talking about shooters. This describes virtually any game that has grenades, enemies, and guns in it, which is not a small number of titles.
1. The last two single player missions.
2. Everyone wanted Master Chief to die, and when he didn't they said the game sucked.
3. They suck; when you are not good at a game, you blame it on the game rather than your own lack of skill.
COD4 has absolutely nothing on Halo 3. It's just ranked games, where each gametype is nearly identical. While I love COD4, it is boring due to the lack of features.
