There was a rumour before the 360 came out that you'd be able to use points from achievements to buy things in the marketplace. There was also a rumour that the community (i.e us) would be able to upload content into the marketplace for others to download.

lol, achievements are for fun, not buying things, microsoft points, which call real money are used to buy things like downloaded content or arcade games

I read somewhere that Microsoft was going to try a pilot program in the US only that would allow gamers to use their gamerscore to buy items from a list. I can't remember the link but will post if I find it again. It could be a hoax but it would be nice.

gamerscore is useless. I dont play a game on hard mode using the weakest weapon for fun. If someones doing it in an attempt to show off...well.. i guess loser would be the appropriate term here.. either that or futility. Working your ass off for something no one cares about. I still wonder why microsoft thought those were a good idea.
