I am a fan of all game types including RTS, and this particular game just pisses me off.- unlike other RTS games, CR gives you a limited time to build. If you are trying to dominate by military force, then its always fun to build up your forces and then send them all out at once, ala Star Craft, Warcraft, any other rts. The unlimited resources prevents the game from having an unlimited time limit. I would rather have unlimited time than unlimited resources. On the harder difficulty levels the game ends by the time you get your cities built up- even online! Even the game types that say 'the only way to win is to take over the other players capital cities' have a time limit- it will say- the game will end in 5 turns. BS----Does anyone agree with me?

A few points.

1. All the Civ games are not RTS games, they are all Turn Based Strategy.

2. The game doesn't end (if it's the same as Civ 4) you get an option to keep playing.

CivRev is not an RTS...It's turn based. You can't play it like an RTS, you need to play it different. So, no, I disagree.

No, unfortunately once you win, it's done.

Yup I have lost at times due this when going for science win, I was 1 turn away from winning and bam I lose, it happened again when I was going for a economic win, there was 1 time I had taken over 2 out 4 civilizations and the computer had none, I was going for culture and the other civs was attacking my bases and was losing bad, when the game ended in 5 turns and the Mongolins won, I was like WTF? They took over no main bases, I was the only one who did, all I can think of is that when Mongolins fight barbarians they turn them into cities

nope, if the game ends too quickly for you its because you let another team beat you through passive victory. there is no way to set up the game for domination only victory as far as i know, and if you want to waste your time stacking groups of tanks for 4 hours this game isnt for you. I dont understand how much more time you need? I have played a troublesome single player level that lasted 5-6 hours and if you expect to have a multiplayer game last that long you have high hopes.

Besides those points, it's a terrible game. How on earth this game got a 9.0 is some sort of miracle. They basically took Civ 4, cut it down to allow little or no actual strategy in the game. The outcome of the game is based on who can build stuff faster. Laughable graphics, boring gameplay, and none of your advisors acutally speak any kind of language. Honestly, once you build a few factories, the game is over. You can create anything in 5 turns or less. Its not worthy of the Civilization title.

Thanks didnt know that, this is my 1st time playing a game like this, I was told its a RTS, so this genre is TBS? I did play LOTRBFME for a short time but found it too confusing, the tutorial was trash.

ill make a brief summary of this thread for future readers:

1)scroungy fails at game, hard, blames system

2)scroungy proves he doesnt know what hes talking about stating that RTS and TBS are the same

3)papp cuts up scroungy's argument and hands it to him with all the trimmings

4)willstudz starts to cry, moaning about how the original was so0o much better, papp laughs

No, you got it all wrong. What should piss you off about it is that the computer doesn't have to play by the same rules as you. You can clearly see they have no money, you can completely cut off all their production, and yet they can still produce 2 or three archers every turn... I wish more TBS AI's were built like Galactic Civilizations AI, that is, rather than cheating they were actually programmed well. EDIT: And I'll completely side step the fact you started bashing on a game without knowing what genre it is.
