My roomate had a 360 and it was the first game he played on it. Naturally I had to try it and I loved it so when I got my 360 I knew it was going to be one of the first(if not the first, which it ended up being)games I bought.
I have wanted the game since the Pre-E3 unveiling. I saw the graphics and the type of gameplay it had. Then I read the early previews and I especially remember when one preview at ign said that the game looked so good that if they took the 20 min demo and told them that it was the game they would happily be the first in line and spend 65 dollars on it.
I was hyped to get this game ever since. This was the game that made me get a 360 back in June 06. It was my most wanted game ever until Resident Evil 5 came around. Plus no matter what anyone thinks it was a great game that was extremely fun. I have put countless hours on it. If it wasn't for my 360 being repaired I would be playing it right now.
To see what the fuzz was about. I wasn't impressed by the graphics at all, in fact I've seen better. But it was fun and that's all that really matters.
I played it at a friends house before I got my 360 and loved it so I got it when I finally got my 360. I don't regret it, I love the game and have played it for many, many hours and will continue to do so. :)
well to be totally honest I thought it looked kinda lame with all the cover and shoot bs they were showing, but i saw a review on X-play on g4tv and they gave it five out of five stars so i decided I would at least rent it. I was blown away i mostly played split screen co=op mode with my friends, and that was reason enough to by it, i had not even played online yet. but now i and hooked and all my friends bought 360s for this game alone. becasue it is possibly the best online mutliplayer game ever.
The same reason I'm going to buy BioShock, Mass Effect and Assassins Creed...I just knew it was one of those games that have to be purchased without hesitation.
Because i was dumb enough to liste to people saying it was great, the hype! , bla bla etc and got it, played it once from start to end and got bored, i tried the online to see if there was all this gliberish talk about and no, it was boring too... so i don't see what's so great about this game, maybe for the kids is the graphics and there is where the hype comes from because that's the only good stuff about this game.
i didn't mean to buy it, it came with the 360 i bought. On the bottom of the case it reads "Not for Resale." Whatever, i beat it on insane difficulty and i've had my fun with it.
I bought it because of the hype. Heard next to nothing about it before the release, but everything that I'd seen or read looked and sounded awesome. I was not disappointed at all when I finally got my hands on it. The cover system was odd at first, but after the training level, I had it down well enough and by the end of the first real level, I already felt like a pro with it. It was a game that I didn't hesitate to buy, I even had that day off work and patiently waited until my local Gamestop called at 7 in the evening to tell me they'd gotten their copies in. I had bought my 360 to play Dead Rising and a couple of other games, but GeOW really took the cake, although after earning all the offline points, I don't see much need to go back and play again. I'll probably pick up the PC version when it comes out, though. Really wanted to kill that big monster (can't remember the name).
I didn't even know what Gears of War was when I bought it.
I saw a huge line outside of EBX the day it came out. I thought everyone was in line to get a Wii pre-order (this was back in Nov. 2006). So I stood in line too, not knowing that everyone was actually waiting to get Gears of War.
I just bought my Xbox360 a week before GoW was released, and only had 1 game (Dead Rising... the reason why I got 360). So when I asked everyone if they're waiting for the Wii, they said it was for Gears of War. I was going to leave the line, but seeing that it was soooo long, the game just *had to be good. Plus, I only had 1 game. So I got Gears of War anyway, and it was totally worth it!
