Why did you buy an Xbox 360?

A good gaming experience.

Next-gen graphics.

A large library of shooters racers and rpgs.

A decent price for the above.

Something to play with my friends other then wii.

Have Access to those 360 ps3 ports RE5 Soul caliber IV etc...

Thats about it.

i bought a 360 because i wanted a next gen system the price just droped when i bought it, the FPS that r on this sytem, i kind of figured the next gta game would be on the 360 (which happened). thats about why i bought a 360.

the playstation 3 is exensive(when i wanted one) i didn't know if bluray would have won against hd.

i didn't want a wii because i bought a gamecube and barely played it after launch.

What were your reasons for buying an Xbox 360?

I purchased the 360 for the obvious reason - it was the only next gen console on the market besides the Wii.shaunchgo

The Wii was the last console to be released. I bought mine because I liked my xbox better than my ps2, so I decided to get the 360. Also it has a more diversed gaming library and like someone else said it gets basically any game Microsoft wants for its system. My Ps3 is still cool, but I dont bother playing online on it.

Big library of titles and I've had good time with xbox

Love my Xbox so moving on to the 360 was easy.

I bought just ordered my second one because it is only $34.99 (I hope it's not a scam).

First one still works great.

The second one will go into the family room to download and watch Netflix movies, coming this fall.

I was fortunate to be able to use both a 360 and PS3 through work, so was able try before I buy.

The 360 has a much larger catalogue of games, as well as having backwards compatibility

I prefer the 360 controller to the Sixaxis, in shape, size and weight.

The 360 was also considerably cheaper than the PS3 while offering the same level of graphics, and I never seriously considered the Wii.

Why go next-gen?
I love games, PS2 started to feel a bit boring. I took part in this ridiculous competition to win a 360 and got so excited of the chance to get one that even after I lost, I just had to get one. Pooled up my money and got a 360.

Why 360 over PS3 or Wii?
Wii? No way.

360 was cheaper than a PS3, had better games, had a better controller. XBL sounded cooler with it's achievements.

Blu-ray vs. Games?
I play games every day for hours, I watch a couple of movies a month. Games win!

1. Given that I was basically on my sixth PlayStation console, and getting absolutely no satisfaction from Sony support or warranty regarding neither the playstations that have broken, nor the games that they chose to ruin before dying out on me, I was hoping that the Xbox 360 would have been a more reliable choice. Looking back on it... yes, I've had the RRoD happen once. But the big difference sit hat in neither time that I've had to return the console, had I had to pay anything out of pocket. Thanks to Best Buy's replacement plan, I am also hoping to hold out until the Elite price drops as well, so that i could then upgrade to that one on the cheap, given all that I've been doing.
2. It had a lot more games out and coming out shortly that either were not on the PS3, or were significantly broken on the PS3.
3. (partly) HD-DVD support, and that many of those early movies looked much better, and had a more complete feature/audio/video set than their BluRay releases, and because many of the movies I did want to watch in HD were on HD-DVD only, or were still better on the format than BD.
4. Xbox Live having a free pathway with Silver membership.
5. Getting to chainsaw kill a locust in Gears of War for the first time basically cemented it for me
6. While not perfect, Xbox 1 BC did make most of the games that I cared about playing compatible.
7. At the time, I was looking forward to Def Jam ICON (before it came out and sucked horribly). Finding out that the 360 build could allow you to basically find external music to play even from an iPod where the PS3 didn't have that functionality was personally quite cool.
8. As good as the Wii is, the Xbox 360 was going to be my choice for the "standard" console games I'd want to play, whereas the Wii would help me to play some new experiences.
9. More games with co-op play, as when I first got it, i was hoping to be able to get gold and tema up with my brother or something. While that went to pot, I still enjoy those games that do have co-op play, and good singleplayer.
10. I was basically waiting for the 60GB to go down to $400 or less so I could get that for when (inevitably) my latest PlayStation dies on me. But then again, I was assuming that Sony would have kept their promises and retained full BC across the PS3 hardware line.

Mainly the games. I had been watching the 360 for nearly a year but I kept thinking the PC games would pick up. After a pretty bad winter/spring I decided it was time. Besides, my list of games I wanted was already in the 30s so I thought now or never.

It has worked out well for everyone. My woman and dogs enjoy me on the couch then sitting in my computer chair and heck, she has even played some games. Then you add in the media functions like streaming videos over a network and now I can't live without it. :D

I still get goose bumps sometimes thinking about how I have it when it came out I thought I could never get it.

lol nah that was a very minor reason. the original xbox was kind of being pushed to the side and there were all these cool games on 360 and it was my birthday very soon and very conveniently i was geting sick of WoW so i begged and begged my parents and helped them with work and things like that and i got one..... yay

It was cheaper then the PS3 and had great games.

I bought my Elite 2 weeks ago just to play the great Exclusives.

I bought an Xbox 360 as I wanted a next-gen console. The main factor in me buying a 360 over a ps3 though was:

Xbox Live

Better Exclusives (at the time I bought it)

and most of my friends had one.
