Pricing doesn't have anything to do with the US or Microsofty, that's Canada's job. And that article showing game profits didn't mention anything about Canada. Unless you're talking about an older article, you just made that up.

i keep seeing posts about ppl saying when the elite will come to Canada
I actually think it has to do with Microsoft waiting to get approval from the CRTC.BlacKJaCK2290
Yep, it's not Microsoft's fault at all that Canadians are missing out on all the Marketplace content, I'ts the CRTC that will not allow it unless a certain percentage of that content is Canadian. So unless the CRTC changes their mind about that this is the way it will allways be.

Elite is already in Canada. I bought one a little over a month ago
Hmm...
Microsoft=Redmond, Washington
Washington=USA
USA=/=Canada (or the rest of the world for that matter)
Think about it.
What I hate the most is that they don't update the pricing difference on items to reflect the current exchange rate. They're still basing it on the exchange rate from 1995, and we really eat it.
US 360 Game = $59.99 USD
CA 360 Game = $69.99 CAD = $67 USD
MS Points are a ripoff up here too. An 800 point game costs us almost $15 USD, which is a lot for an arcade game. The actual console itself is much more expensive here as well.
US Premium 360 = $399.99 USD
CA Premium 360 = $499.99 CAD = $476 USD
That's a pretty big difference if you ask me. If I was a little closer to the border it would make more sense to drive across and buy everything in the US these days, especially when you figure in the 15% sales tax we pay on everything. Gaming is an expensive hobby in the great white north!
Microsoft is American and therefore America will get more stuff...
Nintendo gives more to Japan I believe
Make an American account and leave it as a silver membership, its not hard. Vain_00
yeh but it recognises ur ip and does not allow u 2 d/l videos etc
you think u'v got it bad, over here in britain the 360 premium is going for £279 or $500 each game is up to $80, there are some games for less but the good ones are around $80/£45 or more, lol we are pi**ed we ain't even got elite. blessDestructiViper
lol its pretty bad here. u can get some good deals tho if u look around. eg play.com have premiums 4 £230 and i have a nearby shop which has loads of pre owned games really cheap...
im proudly candian, and ive been mad since vid marketplace launch, we have nothing, besides stupid spanish trailers and 2 episodes of viva pinata. can microsoft please work with these companies to get real content to canada.dsman418
If u are Canadian learn how to spell it.

Yea it sucks but im visiting the US right now and i bought a sh*tload of games from here and a bunch of accessories. Now that the Dollar is at 95 cents it just makes sense.

Lol. I have a store near me it's called Mellenium 3000. I live in Canada and they have Geas, Rainbow Six, The Darkness, etc. for $49.99 CAD. The Premium is about $399.99 and the Core is $299.99 CAD. So I'm really lucky.

Yes thank you. Games should be $62.99 here. and you can't give me the "well the dollar will change again and again that's why they don't move the price because just about everyone is claiming the Canadian dollar will soon match the U.S. by years end.
atleas the PS3 in Futureshop is now $659.99 from what I saw on www.futureshop.ca
Although the price for a PS3 should actually be $629.99 and a Xbox360 Pro should be at $419.99 instead of $499.99 like it is now. Can you say rip off?

I hear ya but it's a 14% tax not 15% that 1% was dropped although in places like Calgary they pay like half that

ya i'v knoticed that to, plus despite the fact that the value of the american dollar is dropping while the candian doller is slowly going up the prices of american goods like games and consoles isn't going down and it realy pisses me off...
The reason you and the rest of the world is getting the short end is because of legal issues and licensing. Microsoft needs to get permission from the movie studios and tv stations to put there stuff on XBL for foriegn countries and they have to go through a ton of crap to do that. I guess they just think it's not worth it or it's too expensive/time consuming or something *shrugs*
Europe has it worst, period.
Just to show the canadians what we have to put up with. I'm going to convert all the prices into GBP (£)
USA = $59.99 = £30 (Rounded up to first whole pound)
Canada = $69.99 = £33 ( rounded down to nearest whole pound)
Britain = £45
So as you can see although you pay a small amount more than americans do, we are paying a hell of alot more. That's just on games. If you really want to see how much we're getting ripped off, I can post console figures, so quit complaining, kai?

yeah, but you got to add 14% tax on the original price when you buy stuff here, i.e. a PS3 here is $700 you have to add 14% tax on that to get the real price, so it's not that much more cheaper than UK. I just recently moved here from England, and I was suprised by how expensive things are over here!
[QUOTE="Packt"]I get tons of Market Place content and I'm from Canada. Only thing we don't get here are the movies and tv shows and crap. And that's what torrents are for, so who cares?kozzy1234
