Why do people deem Halo 3 the best game ever for 360?

Yes, I own Halo 3 and yes I do play it. I am just wondering though why above all other games that are out that are great like COD WaW, RE5, and so on and so on, Halo 3 is still considered the best. I mean the Matchmaking just is annoying anymore because of all the nerds that restarted and made new accounts because they are bored of fighting other Generals and people that are lower rank can never get their skill up because of them. Then there is the friendly fire which everyone enjoys abusing by betraying teammates all the time. The game always lags like crap and half your team gets booted. So really I like the game but I do not find it the best game ever. So please someone tell me why this is considered the best game ever.

Never lags for me when i play, also i really like sci-fi games, i enjoy the vehicles, maps are pretty big which is a huge plus, i enjoyed the four player co-op a lot, and i do not think it is the best shooter but it is fun.

Well it doesn't always lag for me, usually it lags for my teammates which usually ends up lagging the rest of the game and then people get booted.

no shooter is the best game they are a dime a dozen its just thats whats popular due to the online multiplayer crap thats all the rage right now

i dont, but i think its just master chief in next generation.

Truthfully online multi is getting old to me, I like the game story not so much as a multiplayer option. Like COD WaW I liked the story not just the Multi.

Usually I try to but sometimes I can't play with friends sadly.

Yeah i will admit though Halo 3 does have its flaws. My one huge complaint is the community. It seems almost impossible to enjoy unless you are playing with friends sometimes. So much TKing and people damaging you but not killing you. Not always the case but when it does happen it just really turns me away from it.

Yea I don't understand why Halo 3 was hyped up so much. I have finished the game but really didn't enjoy it compared to some PC games or PS3 games...or Gears of War 1 or 2...

So you're basically saying that Halo 3 isn't the best game on the 360 because of how other people choose to play it? Lame.

I personally think it's the best 360 game because it's the only one I've been playing non-stop. Most other games I pick up I finish once, maybe dabble in multiplayer and never touch it again unless I get curious. But not so with Halo 3. I can replay the campaign again and again and the multiplayer never gets old for me.

You're basically asking why people have an opinion. I don't know what you think the best 360 game is, but I think it's Halo 3 and if your main reason for saying it doesn't deserve to be called that is based on your encounters with other players than you're really not saying anything about Halo 3 but how a few people, as with any game try to abuse it.

I, for one, do not feel that Halo 3 is the best game on the 360. That being said, I am a huge Halo 1 and 2 fan. Halo 1 is one of my favorite games of all time and the Halo 2 multiplayer is the reason I got onto Xbox Live way back when it was just getting on its feet. If any of you had Xbox Live right after it came out, then you know exactly what I am talking about. I enjoyed the Halo 3 campaign, but I felt it was not as memorable nor as fun as the campaign in Halo 1. I felt, overall that it was better than Halo 2's campaign. At first, I enjoyed the multiplayer, but after a couple of months, that joy wore thin and has completely evaporated as I type this. I started noticing that there were alot of odd things happening that didn't happen in the Halo 2 multiplayer. Alot of bugs and glitches.They were especially noticeable since Halo 3 has the saved film feature. So many of them that often times I would throw my controller down in disgust because of the bugs, rampant lag, glitches, poor networking, etc. These issues made you feel that your success was not in the quality of your skill and and how well you played, but more based on luck. That frustrated grew, and grew until I quit playing Halo 3 multiplayer. I love other first person shooters online, and do not have the widespread issues in those games on such a frequent basis as I do in Halo 3(with the exception of the GOW games). As far as the community goes, they are just as bad as every other community. Obviously team killing and team damage is a major issue in Halo 3, but I do not feel that it is any worse or better than any other game on any other console or the PC.

Well don't you think someone's skill shouldn't go up unless they are better than the people they are playing? It's their money and they can spend it on a new account or whatever else they like. And in regards to friendly fire...it's part of the game.

Probably because its the top selling game on the console meaning there will be alot more fans.

It's all because of Halo 1's masterful campaign and constantly balanced, fair and awesome gameplay. It defined a generation of FPS's on the consoles and continues to provide innovative ways of interaction and design. I wouldn't say Halo 3 is the best on 360, just the most popular, and for the reasons I've stated. But as a franchise? It's pretty hard to top it's consistency.OspreyDawn

Why does it matter if people honestly think Halo 3 is the best shooter or even the best game ever(although if you honestly listened to what people say you'd realise there are probably more people like you making threads bashing Halo that there are people praising it)?Why does it bother you so much that people enjoy something more than you? Really though, the problems you've listed about Halo such as lag and tkers are in pretty much every shooter. As for people starting new accounts just to start ranking up over again, why do you care? What difference does it make to you if someone makes a new account?

You stated nothing that supports your statement of Halo 3 not being any better than rehash COD games. "People making new accounts in matchmaking... people using friendly fire... lag (which is due to your crappy internet or Xbox Live servers) kicks people out..."

why its consider best game ver by ppl is because they like it just like a game u enjoy u will claim to be best so stfu. first not my fault your bad cant get past lvl 20. 2 not my fault u play with 10 year olds who shoot each other. 3 not my fault u have AOL for a internet provider... i play the game everyday ever since it came out i don't consider it best game ever but i do give it best online because of the type of game it is whicth is fun the soical environment on it. most my local and other friends play it a lot and we have good time so their 4 has best online 4 me.. sooo please let me know why it cant be best game ever in someones opinion?k2theswiss

As for best game,,,I have to agree and disagree with you on your point. Personally I think multiplayer isnt all that addictive, I mean yeah its fun to play now and then but I dont honestly see why so many people devote hours and hours and hours to playing and end up tallying up 1000's of matches each :S And not to mention there is a massive proportion of the community who are nothing short of rude and abusive and not to mention the under aged irritating kids that I end up finding

As a single player game though I think it is the best sci-fi game on the 360. I dunno it just has that certain something in its action, attention to detail (except certain bits of level design) and the story that makes it the best sci-fi game Ive played on the console. Though I might add I happen to think this strength comes from the series as a whole as well as just halo 3 itself.

So I suppose yeah not the best game ever but certainly one of the best sci-fi games/series
