Why do people hate GTA 4

yeah, gta4 is like the best game ever, its all around good graphics, physics, all the works san andreas has nothing on gta4

I understand that don't get me wrong, but I have no idea for what reasons so many people dislike it. I know there are always people who won't like certain games (I don't like Halo at all) but it seems like the majority of people that I've seen on here keep saying about how much of a let-down it was. And I can't think of anything which makes me dislike the game, so I want to hear other people's reasons.

Im so sick of people using " people have different opinions " as an argument. We all KNOW that. I see no reason people wouldn't like the game. Most people who say, "this game sucks or i hate GTA4" are just trying to get attention or a rise out of people. I have a friend who prefers Saints Row 2 over GTA 4 its not like he hates GTA he just likes all the little customizations and 'jobs' better in SR2.

Now you can all see what I mean about giving valid reasons why people don't like the game.

If you are concerned about not getting damage from getting on a flipped bike or that cars aren't glued to the road, then you are putting your focus on the wrong areas. You are actively seeking out the "bad" points of the game giving a biased perspective.... Let me re-word that as a question. What is bad about the camera having a loose view of the car?

it was a boring "game" it would have made a really awesome movie though with the story it had.nicknees93

sorry.. but do u drive? when u turn corners in real life you have to slow right down otherwise u over/under steer and u spin or slide plus screeh.. i think the driving is insanely realistic in GTA 4

but i gotta agree with you for your 1st point.. i am not used to the camera neither

never expeienced your point 3 and 4 though.. i don't usually push people into stationary cars.. i usually pop their heads off

WOW. What kind of reason was that?!?! Like SERIOUSLY. First you say people have different opinions, you UNDERSTAND?! Then you say you see no reason why to dislike the game. So apparently, you DONT understand that people have their own opinions. Some people just don't like that mindless crap GTA has to offer, like me. GTA is pointless and stupid, the graphics are bad and the physics are always going to be bad. If I were to play shooters, i want to play serious game. Not games like this or crackdown or crap.

To the guy above that mentioned jogging and cops being too sensative.

I don't understand. The sprinting in this game was exactly the same, for me at least, as other GTA games. I constantly tap the A button so I can jog infinitely. I remember doing that in GTA3 and I remember that for Vice City. San Andreas, on the other hand, can be argued as a more realistic game, because the player was forced to work out to build stamina. This then gave the player the ability to sprint for longer periods of time.

As for cops going after the player for anything, the only time cops chase after me is when I run into them, fire a gun out my window, hit a person, or jack a car. And these activities must take place directly in front of them, or so frequently that a person calling the cops is emulated.

To the guy that mentioned squealing tires:

I absolutely love the realistic approach rockstar took with the game. The tires squeal because you are moving so fast. Most people in new york don't go down broadway at 90 mph.

man only a handful of people know how to give a straight damn answer. ok i own the game, beat it and all. I didnt enjoy it very much

i didnt find it as fun to play as Saints row2. Im not gonna compare it to SA becuase i hated the missions in SA they were all the same crap (VC was the best imo)

i hate games that strive for realism when its right outside my window. I dont want the cars to handle like real cars i want to be able to turn on a dime while going 120 mph thats why i play video GAMES. The story was great . But there were no fun missions, for instance in SA atleast they varied and they were funny ex chasing peopl ein gocarts, stealing planes, stealth missions. the only mission i thought was unique was the bank robbery. other than that it was so plain. SA was a huge and almost limitless game.

like i said saints row was a great game pretty good story great controls hilarious gameplay. also it had co op. which made a fun game even more fun.

in SA you could customize your cars to race, you cant in gat4 but you can in SR2. you can even pimp out cop cars how cool is that? you can buy places in SA and SR2 and they give you income plus the items become cheaper, cars, guns planes or w/e.

and zombie carlos. thats all im gonna say about that.

over all gta4 wasnt a bad game. but it wasnt as fun as the original i hope they dont follow up with a realistic sequel or ill just buy saints row 3

I was somewhat disappointed by GTA4, although i would not say i "hated" it. For me, the game was just way to serious and repetitive. Comparing it to San Andreas (which i loved) GTA4 was a major step forward technically, but it just did not have any of the imagination and variety that i loved about SA. Who does not remember SA missions like "Steal a combine harvester and use it to grind its previous owners while running away with it" or "Shoot through a military depot, steal a heavy lift helicopter and use it to steal a bank transport van". For SA, the list of creative missions goes on. In GTA4 is nearly always "Go there. Kill him/them. Loose the cops." with only very little variety to that formula.Elgaard2

I don't understand why some people hate GTA4. I loved it and thought it was one of the best games I ever played. In fact I thought it had a better story than the other GTA's.orbis_mortis

With everything new it brought to the table including choices you could make in the story, vastly improved graphics, a better physics system and everything else make GTA 4 one of my favourite games of all time. I know some people say that it's not as good as SA for whatever reason, but I don't know why it gets so much hate. Murj

fryshakewad, the opinion argument IS a valid reason. there is no reasoning to explain what you like. i could say "good gameplay good graphics good story" but really all that means is "i like the gameplay graphics and story."

I haven't heard alot of things about GTA IV being a bad game,but SA was pretty good except GTA IV was better.
