Why do people like to trashtalk?

It's hilarious watching people cry and moan about trash talk. it's even funnier seeing them get so enraged or depressed by it they have to make a post on a forum.PiNwOrM

Was that really needed? theres a difference from stating your opinion in a topic and just being completely insulting. Also, did you even read his post? He stats a valid reason as to why trashtalk isn't always justified. Like the part in his post where the brothers of his friends hop on to rockband just to talk trash. THers also a difference from competitive trash talk and trash talking because you think your hot ****.

ANYTHING competitive has trash talking, any sort of sport or video game, why do you people act like this is something new? stop whining about these trash talkers and just play the game, i trash talk when i play nhl 08 online, and its comical people actually quit over a single cocky comment after i score a goal...grow some balls and come back and score a goal on me, or just b ITch out and quit, whatever

you can leave or kick people but you will end up wasting time doing that then playing your games. just let it go or mute them if the option is there. Normally if you dont respond, they run our of stuff to say. then you can just keep playing. i will suffer 2 minutes to keep going.BikerPunk

What do you mean "if the option is there"? You can mute any one as long as you can open there Gamer Card. The option is always there.

To the TC, yes people like to trash talk for no reason. They do it because there is nothing you can do about it. In real life most of the people would never say half of the stuff they say online as they could get into a lot of trouble with other people that get offended.

Just mute them and you will never have to here them again. Simple plan that keeps you from getting offended and lets them run there mouth all they want. That is the only way you will shut them up.

As the TC has stated trash-talking is not always a result of sportsmanship. There are a lot of people that just do it to tick people off. I mean some of the things people say online they would never say in real life and is just said because they are online.

I disagree. People don't HAVE to trash talk they can just let their play speak for itself to be competitive. Most people usually lack something that have to do that (maybe they were picked on too much in school growing up). Friendly banter is one thing but people go too far with smack talking.

I do agree it is nothing new and won't stop any time soon. It seems that muting is the best way to go to prevent hearing it.

i totally agree wit u....i play varsity football and trash talk is something i do quite often....its fun and it fires most people up...when i play video games i dont talk trash because its only a video game...why get so pissed of that u start talkin **** on some1 that lives across the country.....u will never see eachother so u cant beat the hell out of eachothers faces....so its pointless

it's just part of the territory...i don't do it, but i don't got a problem with it. trash talking with people you don't know is kinda stupid, cuz it's pointless, but people ain't gonna stop.

I find trash talking fun when playing in a game with friends, and possibly taking it a little over the top sometimes. However, in a game with random people I dont understand the point. I mean trash talking makes me feel stupid around people I dont know.poopsmith111

I enjoy trash talking... It's the best thing about playing competitive... what else is the mic there for?? to talk to your friends about the weather??? NO! It makes the game Live!!! It makes it more intense!!! (mind you i'm talking in Brucie's voice from GTA IV)

But seriously, they gave you alot of options just in case you didn't want to hear any of the opposing players... So you can mute/kick them if they get too offensive and you can't take it...
