i play video games because im incredibly anti social. i lock myself uo in my room and pretend to be either a easrturn european gangster or the leader of a crack squad of elite operatists. when im in my lil world i dont have to face the struggles and hardships of the outside world. and i can pretend im someone much more interesting and likeable than i really am , ti thousands of anonamous strangers all doin exactly the same thing as me.

Actually I was gonna say what you said, but I'm not anti-social.
they allow me to escape in to a fun and colorful world full of antagonists and protagonists and epic battles and long quests and lots of other vary appealing things (DRAGONS!!!!!)
also because what are the alternatives?- i hate movies, books, CDs, ipods, music,
According to your sig, you like Pikachu in Brawl. You don't have the divine right to hate anything so plz step aside. I play games because they have hawt chicks, booze, guns, bullets, and many bad words. Oh and don't forget the gore.
I consider it to be just entertainment, nothing more nothing less. I'm happy with how my life is now and don't need to utilize video games in order to "escape" or anything like that, I just think killing animated characters just for the hell of it is pretty fun.
I find playing video games is a way for me to just relax and take my mind of whatever sort of stress I may have. But moreover, I just think that they're really fun, and are my favourite form of entertainment, above movies, books, music, etc.
It's how I escape my awful and tragic reality, when I play video games I don't have to face my beautiful girlfriend or deal with my fun job, or even hang out with my friends, I get to escape all that.
I can say that I've skipped a few days of work/class or whatever to stay in at home and play a new game. Eventually I get back to what I need to do, but not until I reach a checkpoint. Video games are just awesome.

1. u sed girlfriend (stop pretending nobodys falling for it)
2. u sed fun job ( err no such thing unless u work here at gamespot.)
because its fun and keeps me away from trouble. Also its something to do to relax after a long day of school/work and when there nothing to do and to pass time it is good.
