My Oblivion game play fine when my hard drive isn't attatched, but when I re-attatch my hard drive, the game no longer works and I get a disc read error? What the ****? I've deleted all the saves from the hard drive and still no luck. Anybody know a solution?

Try wiping off the disc, it might help it. Take a soft cloth, dampen it, and wipe from the inside of the disc outward in a straight line. This is a weird problem, maybe you'll get lucky and it'll work after this!

I've tried that. The disc is in fine condition, it has very minor wear and tear(As all discs will get eventually) but no major scratches at all. The game worked fine for close to two weeks, and now I have no clue why it isn't playing. If it works fine when the hard drive isn't attached it leads me to believe that the disc is not the problem...

If it's just that game try installing it on the hard drive and playing it. If it happens with other games than whipe the hard drive. If either don't work idk what to say.

it may mean a HDD failure and the only option is to try and salvage your game saves and get a new HDD
