I saw a topic earlier about a dude dissapointed by his 360 purchase and everyone flaming him. But you know what, he's actually right. I mean, its not the system, the system is a great system, Live is amazing, its just a nice system . Kind of like the psp, a little ahead of its time, but still great. What it comes down to is these games. Seriously, why does every single game need so much hype and big outlook on it. Get real, were they serious with the hype that Lost Planet got. Damn, that game would be bashed on ps2 ,xbox or even a cube if it came out back then. But no, since it LOOKS GREAT it must get a good rating. The came handled like a buick and had little to no story at all, but oh no ! it had great online play ! What if I didn't have the internet( which I do obviously ) and couldn't enjoy the online play. Am I supposed to get stuck with a crap gameplay because the online is so good. Same with gears of war too, The game got the BIGGEST hype , almost halo status...and the game ended in...6 hours ? You kidding me, thats got to be a joke. And to make it worse, the online isn't even good. its boring, repetitive and lame. The only game that I loved on this system was COD both of them. Good games, I give them that.

Basically in the end I noticed that these games come down to one thing, online and flashy graphics...thats it. If it has a nice coat and somewhat good online, reviewers give it a 9. come on PDZ got a 9.0 , go straight to hell with that nine seriously. But like I said, a good shine and online, the games get a nine. Its lame and I think these reviewers know it too, I guess they realized they better make the best out of a situation instead of ripping the games for the trash they are.

It's not just 360 games...its all systems.  Basically from what I have seen, almost all the sites have review staffs that like that system and/or the genre of games they review...i.e. are fanboys.    Therefore you tend to get people that like those games reviewing them and hence a higher score than the avg. joe public would give.  Its all personal preference....you didn't like Lost Planet...fine...but most of us do.  You didn't like Gears ....most of us loved it, even with the shorter gameplay.

BTW...shorter games are not a bad thing.  Considering most gamers never finish games they get I actually appreciated Gears being only 10 hours long.  I don't usually have a ton of time to devote to a single game, not too mention new games come out so fast these days that most people (myself included) tend to get caught up in the "i need to play the newest now syndrome".  So shorter 1 player and the add on of mulitplayer makes any game attractive to me cause I do enjoy completing games when I can.   Sorry if you think Online is over hyped but me personally feel online is a crucial element for replay ability.  Gears of war became a 100+ hour game for me with online.  And that was worth EVERY penny!

I have to disagree with that "most people never finishing games" statement. Maybe 8 year olds that play games once a week don't, but everyone I know finishes games completely. And most of them aren't hardcore gamers either. Just average joes.
