I just got my Xbox back from service and I've been just sitting here forever trying to get my account recovered.

It's been over 20 minutes and it's only half-way. I don't understand it.

I have a fast internet connection through the cable company....

Why is it so slow?

Is this normal?

Wait you don't have a hard drive or a memory card? If that is the case then how the hell do you save anything?

I would like to have the ability to have the profile info stored on a friend's Xbox. Enter password, recover GT. It's a simple step that saves me from typing my 37-keystroke e-mail again and again. But the process *is* awful. I would love to know why it takes so long. It really shouldn't take more than a minute.

I think the time really depends on how much data you have tied to your gamertag. Mine takes probably 10-15 minutes while other/newer/not used that much tags that I've recovered only take 2-3 minutes. It is really annoying. Lots of time I don't bother recovering to other 360s just because I know I'll have to recover it back also...

My two buddies and I always recover our gamertags at eachother's houses, each of theirs takes about 4-5 minutes, and mine takes 15 minutes. Doesn't matter what system or internet connection.

We figure it has to do with the amount of online stats etc you have. It imports everything about you on Live.

Yeah you must just have a lot of data attached to your tag, games played, achievements, etc.

I always assumed it was a long wait on purpose to discourage people sharing gamertags.

Perhaps you have quite a bit of data to recover?

It does depend. My brother's gamertag only takes maybe 5 or less minutes to transfer, but mine (which is older with a lot more games played and what not) almost always takes 20ish minutes.

What do you mean sharing gamertags? Thats not the purpose of recovering a gamertag really.

I guess you guys didn't read it the first time.

Use a flash drive. It takes about three whole seconds to transfer your gamertag. Stop recovering and quit whining.

It's very simple.

Right now I'm close to an hour to recover mine! I have 130+ arcade games alone and 130,000 gamerscore so...this could take awhile!

I have been waiting around 20 minutes now and it doesn't appear to have made any progress. I'm not sure if it's just being extremely slow, or if it just isn't going to happen.
